Where: Aspen, Colorado.
What: Rio Grande Skate Park. Another skater
designed, skater built Team Pain project. A pool
lover's dream with endless lines, hips, and
spines. It's chock full of transfers.
Good: Smooth, flawless, and free.
Bad: It snows from October until March.
Thanks: Scott Chism, Bobby Haywood, the
local help, and the Aspen Volunteer Fire
Department for above shots.
Directions: Take 70 West to 82 East through
Glenwood Springs. Take Main St. through
Aspen, left on Mill, right on Rio Grande. The
bowls will satisfy your cravings.
Left page: Tree-huggers' eye-view
of a transition-oriented beauty./ Rex
sails solo in the deep end.
Right page: James Hedrick
(sequence/lien-to-tail) is cut from the
same cloth as dudes like Mark
Hubbard and Red. They build good
parks cause they're the ones riding
them. Most contractors build horseshit
parks, cash the checks, and move on
to the next town.
