PINT SIZE
@Rubber Gloves, Denton, TX
Pint Size are complete fucking spastics. They smell. Their shitty van is cov-
ered in Christina Aguilera posters. lano looks weird when he jumps. Toby
is the drummer and he spouts off between every two songs even though
drummers are best off keeping their mouths shut while on stage. Hell, our
drummer Kevin didn't even get his picture in this article and he's the best
drummer in punk rock-well, him and Toby anyway. We first met Pint Size
in Texas and had such a blast that we coordinated future meetings in Jersey,
NYC, and back home in Santa Cruz. Pint Size are hands down the raddest
band we played with. You will know their name someday.
ROADIE
Manhattan
Every band needs a friend to bring along on tour. This friend,
or "roadie," should take responsibility for a number of things
such as selling merchandise, loading in, getting paid, hooking
up a place to stay, driving, more driving, etc... Most important,
the roadie must remain sober at all times. It's imperative. This
is Aaron, our friend and roadie, in his finest form. Lost and
found on the streets of NYC.
THIS IS DARLIN' (AKA OLD YELLER), A '79 CHEVY
whose former duties include school bus and prison transport
vehicle for the city of Gonzalez, CA. Two bald tires, a rotten radiator,
frozen water pump, no wiper blades, no A/C, pulls hard to the left, a
dysfunctional thermostat, an oil leak, gas leak, transmission fluid leak,
brake fluid leak, coolant leak, roof leaks when it rains, faulty starter,
overheater, linkage problem... all on 10 mpg and two quarts of 10/40
a day. This past summer, her assignment was to whisk the punkers and
skaters in Hopelifter around the States for a month and a half long tour
On day three a mechanic in Chandler said she'd never make it out of
Arizona. Twelve thousand four hundred ninety-eight miles and 39
days later, she was back in the NorCal,
her mission successful and complete.
Here's to the vans.

UNDERDOG."
@The Nile, Mesa, AZ
Aside from rockin' tunes and snotty
attitudes, our little skaterock friends in
35
Underdog brought about
extremely ambitious BLs to the show.
True scholars in the school of punk
pimpology. Thank you very much,
guys. Cowtown represent.
THE DAGGERS
FOSTE
@The 999 House, LA, CA
There's a guy named Miguel who runs the show
at the 999 House. The security team consists of his
one very angry and very rabid dog chained up
just outside the front door. Every time we'd walk
by, the doggie would get all uppity and start
frothing and slobbering and snapping and biting
in a feeble attempt to share some of his diseased
love with a human. Miguel believes there's no
deterrent like a homicidal K9. His neighbors in
one of LA's more gangsta-glamorized 'hoods
believe the same. The Daggers, mid-riff light up.
THE EXPLOSION
@Club Laga, Pittsburgh, PA
Big club dates evolve from backyard barbecues;
full blown tour busses come from sketched out
vans. The Explosion have paid their dues and get
a soundcheck, but we're sure they still know that
some of the best shows are the ones held on
someone's basement floor with a shoddy PA and
75 of your new closest friends packed in all
around you. No cover, no soundman, no wrist-
bands or bag checks. Pittsburgh marked 23
down and the first day that the compass pointed
West instead of East. Homesick.

STAN
Getting some friends together, learning a few songs, and hitting
the road DIY style may be the bare basics, but none of it could
ever work without the underground network of kids who organize
the gigs and offer up their houses, food, and spare change to the
bands. Chris from Revolution Summer put us up for days in his
and Jennie's apartment while we were on the East Coast, buying
us food and generally extending the royal treatment all around.
Chris has been around the block; he's done lots of touring and
knows what it's like to be far from home. Returning the favor and
offering a hand are the essential elements to keeping this machine
in motion.
