parks out there. He had
to be there.
The first stop was LA, where I met up
with Chris Swanson, Aaron Harrison, and Zac
Hudson. After leaving the Californian Trailer Park
(where Swanson dwells) and maneuvering the beast
from spot to spot, it was time to split. I asked them if
they had seen Johnny Rad or had heard of his pres-
ence. They answered no but told me that they had.
just been out to the parks in Arizona and that I might
be able to find him there. So after bidding farewell to
Hairball, with his small album of important pictures,
and dropping off Hudson at the Greyhound, I mean-
dered out to Santa Monica to stay with my friend
JT. He took me out to the bars in hopes of find-
ing the Rad Man singing, but it was to no avail.
I even asked the cab driver on the way home
if he had seen Johnny Rad, but he wasn't say-
ing anything. He was part of the Gestapo, I
was convinced.
The pursuit led me south into the San.
Diego area, where I met up with Neil
Heddings. Neil is a rad dude, so I figured he
had to have a clue where the Radster was. His.
only lead was a mini-ramp in his area, so we hit it
up after smelling his dog's farts. The house looked
like a bomb had gone off inside, and I realized we
were the first to come on the scene after some crazy.
party. Half-dead dudes everywhere were claiming the
Rad Man had been there the night before, but I didn't
believe them. I watched Neil grab switch stales out of
the air for a bit and then decided to hit AZ.
Cody Boat had a place to stay in Phoenix, so I went
and was greeted with a pull-out sofa, a big man-dog,
brews, and Detroit Rock City on the tube. The follow-
ing day the search continued as we went to the sick-
ass park in Chandler. The Rad Man had to be here.
How could he not with all the shit to skate? We
Clockwise from top left: A Phoenix, AZ, sidewalk gap
gets snapped by a chap known as Nectar. Like an off-season
Santa, the bearded, jolly Mike Pringle goes from roof to roof
spreading good cheer. Aaron Suski braved the muck at the
base of this steep bank to get up on a pivot in Tuscon, AZ.
