YOU WOULD THINK I'D KNOW, SINCE I'VE
done this enough times, that you hit the contest
first, and then you break out on the road. Me, the
moron I am, the older I get, I do the whole road dog
trip and then check the contest. There were lots of
staring eyes and lots of "Hey, what's going on, how've
you been?" I don't care; I'm in Brazil. We scoped out
the contest scene; it was a small little arena and kind
of whacked out, so we just sat and watched the world
go by. Spray paint on 20-story buildings, grime and
grit-it's like some Bladerunner nightmare all the time.
I made the call right then. I told Brian, the travel
agent, "Baby, get the boys out. Get 'em home." I took
the long flight back to the States and cancelled out.
The '90s was a good fuckin' traveling decade. I skated
a lot of miles and I saw a lot of shit. Now it's time to
look at the rest of what's going on. Take a look; maybe
you've got it. Maybe you don't. See you later.

Clockwise from left: This is the sequence of
the mag: Fabrizio, "Frogface," Cab backside tail-
slide, and it's about waist high. The devil-monkey,
Rodil de Araújo, Jr, varial heelflips into first place.
Nilton Urina frontside flips the piss out of the QP.
