MINNEAPOLIS
TWO TALES OF A TWIN CITY

GREW UP IN A TOWN ABOUT
thirty miles away from
Minneapolis called Stillwater. For
the first few years of my skate-
boarding life, I didn't leave.
Satisfied with my surroundings, I
knew little of the big city and its
endless possibilities.
I remember driving into the city
with my mom, who had an appoint-
ment for something or other, and
getting dropped off in the middle of
downtown. "Meet me back here in
half an hour," she said, leaving me
smack dab in the center of a
plethora of marble. I couldn't.
believe how perfect everything
seemed. They must have had skate-
boarding in mind when they built
this place, I thought. Around every
corner I found new terrain-it was
the best place on earth to skate.
I loved it. Every chance I got, I went
back. And now that I'm all grown up,
I still have as much fun as I did that
first day. I just wish all the cops who
have kicked me out over the years
would die. I think I'll go skateboard
now. Goodbye. -Clint Peterson
Left to right:
Clint "Slice One" Peterson: the nick-
name is lame but this 50-50 line is
not. When he stopped worrying
about getting sponsored and started
concerning himself with skating for
fun, Chad Benson took his tricks to
another level. An unjaded, unfaded
switch noseslide.
