Other rippers included Rick McCrank,
who made mincemeat of the course, tam-
ing the bumpy dragon obstacle with
rousing kickflips and even an ultra-
tweaked frontside flip. Tony Trujillo
jumped out of the VIP area into the
bank about a 15-foot drop. It was
retarded. He made it in the semis and
got served on it in the finals. Koston.

Left to right: Pleasure and fun are doubled when Ed Templeton
and Chad Fernandez team up with a cat and mouse Smith grind-
crooked grind combo. Rocket man, I think it's gonna be a long, long
time; Lincoln Ueda. Get that amateur out of there! Pete Eldridge
skips over a bench and past Sonja's grasp with a switch zinger.
The vert ramp was big and wide and had
a set-back ten-foot-wide extension dead in
the center with a coping of death con-
necting the regular walls. You can tell what
I'm talking about by looking at the photos.

table. Ronnie Creager was skating
well too, but didn't take his runs. Oh
yeah, and the Butcher and Jesse Paez
were definitely in there.
The rest of the contest included bowl
and vert. I pumped around in the bowl
on Friday and it seemed pretty fun in a
sketchy kind of way. They had a quick
bowl contest on Saturday morning, with
Lincoln going nuts and Bob floating hair-
ball seven-foot backside ollies into the
corner. Street dogs Mike V and Chris
Senn were even in there, Senn without
pads and V with some '80s-inspired 43s
to tailslide. On the last day they had Old
Man Bowl, which I'm disappointed I
missed, because one of my childhood
heroes, Craig Johnson, was skating.
Nobody aired into the channel, but Bob.
pretty much wrecked the bridge with
switch frontside nosegrinds. Some of
Bob's new tricks that I saw: switch backside
360° ollies banging the truck on the way in,
and regular backside 360° ollie to frontside
pivot then bring it around all the way.
Bucky was getting wild too, with frontside
540 to switch frontside 540 combos as
well as the dreaded switch frontside flip to
frontside air. Renton Millar kickflipped over
the gorge to backside nosegrind.
Fifteen grand is a lot of money to get in
one lump sum. I heard Brian Anderson.
bought a new car with his Gravity Games
cash. It would be a good feeling to pay for
a car all in one chunk. Kind of makes you
want to enter a contest.
