LOCKER ROOM
This letter is in response to Lowell
from B-V, Kansas in the August '99
issue. First of all, I played quarter-
back for my high school (Rubidoux in
da house!) and I skateboard! So you
can take yourself somewhere else
with that "fuck jocks" stuff. Last time
I checked, skateboarding was a sport,
and athletes participate in
sports. I
know a lot of "jocks" who don't skate
but respect it because it's so chal-
lenging; do yourself a favor and
respect "jocks." It's punks like you
with your bad attitude that make
people not like skateboarders. So
check your attitude and just skate!
Big ups to T-ed. Keep it real.

HARD MOM
This is in response to
Jay Butrin. Apparently
your parents are total-
ly anal or just don't
love you. I'm a parent
writin' this mag and
I'm as down for my
16-year-old kid with
skatin' as it gets. I fig-
ure if he's got a park
B
to skate in, he's not
out rakin' up red-hot
felonies on Friday
nights. I'm a 35-year-old mom who
did ten years in the joint, unlike your
country lame-ass, and I sport 52
bitchin' tattoos. I'll take my kid wher-
ever he wants to go to skate, buy his
decks and trucks (last month, a Tom
Penny Flip), his Osiris, Adio, and
DCs, his Thrasher subscription, his
SMP shorts, skate shirts, his skatecut

hair, bleach jobs-whatever it takes
to let him know I support him 100%.
Skatin' is what my boy digs, and I'm
one of the "sick" moms, you lame
assbite, so I'm glad you can't skate
for a while. Whine somewhere else.
Here's me and my kid Nick Wright. It
would make my year to see this
photo printed!

TIME OUT
The first time I picked up a copy of
your magazine was in July of 1989.
Man, things have sure changed. I
don't really skate nearly as much as I
did back in the days of '89 to '92 but
the skatebug is probably always
going to be biting me. I used to be an
OK little punk rocker who loved to do
any variation of the no-
comply (I once man-
aged to no-comply onto
a railing nosesliding
down by sheer acci-
dent). I'm old and lazy
but it's good to see that
Tony Hawk can still win
contests. Turning 25
this August, I'll pick up
the August issue of
Thrasher as a birthday
present to myself, as I
do every year, and look
my
at pictures of kids half my age doing
stuff I never dreamed possible and
could never do. A lot
lot of fondest
memories come from that piece of
wood with wheels. I've met lots of
cool people and have gone to and/or
skated cool places. Nowadays I'm
just a rockabilly fool who every now
and then skates pool. Thank you,
