Left to right: Switch
noseblunt slide; isn't that
just a bluntslide? Not if you
rock it from over the top like
Chris Head did. Cory Hainline
shuffles a switch boardslide
around 270 to land riding fakie
again. Another victim of heat evap-
oration, Graham Bickerstaff doesn't
let it keep him from feeble
grinding this 12-stair. The heat
has Billy Kahn and Mike Peyton
seeing double on this well-
sessioned bench.
Buckhead, Emory University,
Georgia Tech, Georgia State, and the
sprawling suburbs have just about
everything you could ask for. For
starters, check out the ledges,
banked walls, and rails at North Ave,
or the smooth knee-high ledges at
Ponce school. The Black Blocks are
always a safe bet when everything
else is a bust. Or stake your claim to
fame on the Hubba-esque Trader
Vic's ledge. For every popular spot
there are just as many waiting to be
discovered. I once heard a story
about a former resident who had a
black book with hundreds of
unknown spots mapped out, com-
plete with diagrams and notes about
the right time of day to film or take
photos. Unfortunately he moved and
took the black book with him. All
efforts to retrieve it from his posses-
sion have failed. There are two
indoor parks, Skaters Extreme and
Skates and Bruises. Due to steep
rates and wack rules, neither is pop-
ular with the people I have met.
There are a few really good mini-
ramps, but chances of actually skat-
ing them are slim to none. There is,
however, one spot that is open to
everyone and probably unifies the
Atlanta skate community more than
anything else. It's known as the 40-
yard or Crudside. Located at the
corner of 10th and West Peachtree,
you will find a rugged/did-it-them-
selves cement skatepark built on
