flying around in the wake of
Madison Avenue's attempt to co-opt skating,
we felt it appropriate to bring you a glossary
of terms defined the Thrasher way. So next
time you turn on your TV and hear about a
frontside Indy or a tail grind, you'll know
where to turn.
Appleyard, Mark:
Member of the new generation of rippers
for the next millennium. Also, performer of
the switch tailslide at right.

Big guns:
Expression used to illustrate the large
and perilous nature of a skateboard
trick being performed. In this case,
Chris Lambert doing a large switch
backside 180° down a double-set.
Clearance:
The distance needed between Kristian Svitak's
wheels and the bar that he is ollieing over in
order for him not to hang up and fall to his
face on the floor of the parking lot below.

Dust:
Tiny particles kicked up when a skater slams.
Also, an expression used to describe the
physical state of the same skater post-slam.
