Clockwise from above: Jumpin' Jehovah, Chris Gentry blasts a kickflip Indy
high into the heavens. The stone-faced security women weren't takin' any shit.
Tas Pappas' Japan airs were so high that we could barely fit the coping in the
photo. As darkness started to fall, James Riff snapped half-Cabs off the back
of the flat bank. Steve Hernandez flosses a frontside bluntslide to the beat.

The event was held at the LA Sports
Arena. This provided ample room for a pro
skate expo, word-up stage, and raver para-
dise. Mario down at Lethol built a street
course which was put to use by the likes of
JB Gillet, Kareem Campbell, Neal Mims,
Steve Hernandez, SAD, Pat Channita, JP.
Jadeed, and many others. Also, there was
that famed power drink, Red Bull, and the
Red Bull vert ramp. This ramp was being
rocked by Chris Gentry, Tas Pappas, Lance
Mountain, and other ramp rats who stayed
away from the river.
The skateboarding was tight. Neal Mims
couldn't miss his 360° flips if he tried, and
Kareem was floating kickflips dangerous-
ly high off the bank ramp, backed by
James Riff's buttery half-Cabs. Gentry
was taking the skyway to kickflip Indys
and Tas was just spinning out of control
(not literally, of course).
The club was fun if you're into that
Special K candy raver shit, but I ain't. So
after shooting the skateboarders I decided
my time and money would be much better
spent on the slot machines at the state line.
There are only two things I regret from
that decision: missing Run DMC and the
Rock Steady Crew, and the crappy cramp
in my neck from sleeping in the car on the
way back from Nevada.
