you
think of North Cardina,
usually images of rednecks fishing or Southern belle waitress-
es saying "How y'all doin"" come to mind instead of skate-
boarding. This couldn't be further from the truth for the skate-
boarding society of this central East Coast state. Sure, there are more
Nascar-yelling fans than normal here, but there are an increasing
amount of skate scenes across the state of North Carolina.
The state has a lot to offer many different lifestyles. North Carolina
has it all, from the Blue Ridge and Great Smoky Mountains, with the
beautiful landscapes of the Piedmont Heartland in between, to the
oldest national seashore in the United States. Along these barrier
islands was the site of, Wilbur and Orville Wright's first successful
powered flight on December 17, 1903, in Kill Devil Hills. Over 400
years have passed since the first English settlers visited the new land
of North America and landed at Roanoke Island, NC, only to myste-
riously disappear and come to be known as the Lost Colony. Those
pioneers paved the way for future colonization and made the state
what it is today: a great place to live and skateboard.
