don't know if it was the desert
of the fact that I had been eat-
ing off my comrades' plates
for the past three or four days.
We stayed at a girl named
Tayva's house, and her mom
fixed us the best meal of
homemade enchiladas. It was
eerie out there, man. There
was a cemetery right across
the street. I looked around the
dirt road neighborhood and
imagined that most of the
people die right there and are
just simply hauled across the
street. It was like they were all
trapped, and there was noth-
ing they could do about it.
Karma's ankle was toast
and we were all getting the
vibe that things were end-
ing. We wanted to push on,
but it wasn't going to hap-
pen. We thanked Tayva's
family and took off back
home, partly stoked but
bummed because we didn't
go on to Colorado.
I talked to Karma the other
day. Seems he got himself.

months. We might just make it
to Colorado after all.
