Best Trick
The Best Trick contest followed, with
the action divvied between the Rail
and the Wall. The Rail best trick winner
got $500, while the Wall winner only
got $400. At this scale, it would follow
that à mini picnic table trick would be
worth a grand and a boneless in a ditch
would net you about a quarter.
A viewing channel was formed and
Caine Gayle soon took the big
rail cash with a kickflip to 50-50.
Jesse Paez also snagged some green
when he lipslid the whole thing again.
The wall was next, and for about
half an hour people charged through
the spaces in the crowd to slam into
the thing. Mike Vallely punched out
backside disasters, backside ollies to
tail, backside air to disaster from the
quarterpipe, frontside ollies, and even
a frontside air out of the kinked beast.
Salman Agah belted out an ollie blunt
from the top of the wall back to the
bank. Jesse Paez lipslid it and
frontside noseblunted it from the QP,
and Donny Barley took some Nascar
quality slams attempting the alley-
oop 50-50 to fakie. Then Danny
Gonzalez zoomed through and outdid
them all with a physics-defying wall-
ride to kickflip melon out and over the
channel to the neighboring quarter-
pipe. Fuckin' bananas.
Rumor has the SPOT moving to a
bigger, super-deluxe location by next
year's contest time. Hopefully it will
be as far away from The Cracker
Barrel as possible. Congratulations on
another great contest, SPOT crew.

Much like the cover of
last month's mag,
Gershon Mosley zings a
big switch heelflip over
the tomato.

Jesse Paez could have won if he
hadn't balked on the final trick of his
final run. But he did pull down this
big bad frontside 180° grab.
