Describe an experience that
was unpleasant but in hindsight
you're glad you experienced.
When I was ten, I had an ulcer
and I had to get an enema for
some reason. That was definitely
unpleasant, and I'm not glad I
experienced it.
What's some advice someone gave
you that has proven valuable?
I can think of a lot of advice I've
been given, but I'm sure everybody
has already heard it a million times.
Josh Beagle: So how old are
you, and do you like chili?
I'm 23, and I like chili on
hot dogs.
impossible to practice because
there are 100 people flying
around the course smashing
into each other. And even if
you do practice, it makes
things worse, because if you
practice a trick a lot and get it
wired, then you're bummed if
you don't land it in your run. If
you don't practice and you
happen to land some tricks in
your run, you feel a lot better.
That's just my opinion; but I
like to watch contests.
If you won a million dollars,
what would you do?
I'd buy a house and a bunch of

Explain your ideal skate-
board set-up.
8 1/4" board, loose trucks, 55
mm wheels. Stupid question.
How often before trying a
trick do you think about the
different ways you could
break a bone, etc.?
Every time I'm trying to get my
guts up to try a scary trick I visual-
ize all the ways I can get hurt. It
kind of helps me to prepare and
expect the worst.
Are you working on any new
videos or anything right now?
Yes. We're working on a video.
The footage deadline is supposed
to be January 15, but it's snowing
up here, so I don't know what's
the street, hitting a rock and eating
shit or getting hurt doing some-
thing stupid.
What types of movies do
you enjoy?
I like all types of movies, but I
love horror movies. I have a
huge collection of hard-to-find
horror movies, and my girlfriend
got me a huge talking Freddie
Kruger doll. And I have a
Freddie Kruger head; you put
your hand in his neck and
squeeze this ball, and water
shoots out of his mouth.
Do you skate every day?
I try to, but the weather is bad
right now.
What do you do while
not skating?
I hang out at home with my girl-

anything and there was snow and ice
everywhere. I thought for sure I was
going to get attacked by someone or
something. That was the scariest thing
that's happened in a while.
Is there anyone you would like dead?
I might not like some people, or even
I hate some, but there is only one person
who I truly would like dead. I'm not going
to mention his name.
What do you like about your girlfriend?
My girlfriend Sylvie is great. We just moved
into a tiny house together. We have a little
family: two dogs, Slugger and Pepper, and
two birds. We are kind of the same person,
so we get along really well. I love her a lot;
she's awesome.
What are skaters so hesitant to provide
meaningful information in interviews?
I'm not sure.
What's your favorite food?
Coke.
Describe an average work day.
I wake up around noon, hopefully skate till
night with my friend Gary, then watch a movie
at home or go to a
movie, then go to bed
with Sylvie.
What are some of
your anxieties?
I'm scared of car acci-
dents and airplanes;
that's about it..

love to do.
Do you like going on tour and
what is the best part of touring?
I like the traveling part, and skat-
ing in new cities, and meeting dif-
ferent people. But I also get home-
sick, and it's hard to drive, skate,
sleep, drive, skate, sleep...
What is the best place skate-
boarding has taken you to?
I got to go to Europe this sum-
mer; that was amazing. I didn't
like the contest part, but it was
worth it to get to see the other.
side of the world.
What do you honestly think
about contests?
I hate contests. They are
uncomfortable and frustrating. It's
Would you cut off your own
finger for $500,000?
It depends on the finger and
if I could get it sewn back on
right away.
If you could snap your fingers
and rig the perfect skate situa-
tion, what would it be like?
It would be no more than five
people. Me, my friend Gary
Robinson, Jim Greco, and some
other people, and maybe skating
the CIBC rails, without the knobs,
and no security guards.
What are a few of your
pet peeves?
Talking on the phone to some-
body and it's obvious they are
watching TV or just not listening.

Have you ever killed anything
bigger than an insect in your
life, and did you feel bad?
I had a bird when I was 12; it
didn't have a cage or anything. It

Do you enjoy the damage
your body goes through
from skateboarding?
It feels good to hurt yourself try-
ing something worthy of hurting
yourself. But it sucks rolling down

movies or play video games.
There's this movie theater
called Silver City; it has a
Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, an

20 different theaters. You can
buy all this food and bring it
into the movie, and the seats
are angled up so that no mat-
ter how tall the person sitting

It's awesome.
Who is the president of Canada?
Canada doesn't have a president.
We have a Prime Minister; it might
be Jean Critchen, but I'm not sure.
I don't really follow politics.
