et me tell y'all 'bout what me and Gus
here seen the other day when we was a-
headin' down to the ol' Gully to do us some
off-roadin'...Seems one of them there roller-
board kiddies was tryin' his darndest to jump
up over a damned fence! Dirtiest boy I ever
saw on one of them skates too-looked like
he'd been out there milkin' ol' Betty Sue with
us all day. Anyhoo, poor kid kept a-fallin' on
the cement scrapin' hisself all up with a ciggy
hangin' out his mouth. Skin 'n' bones, that
boy. A good helpin' of Ma's mashed taters
could put some meat on boy's bones. He kept
a-tryin' and a-tryin', but I tell you what, he
done jumped over that damn fence clean as a
whistle. Shit, me and Gus was a-hootin' and a-
hollerin', ain't seen nothin' like that down here
in the San Joaquin Valley, yes indeed.

I've skated with Carlos for
many years now and have
come to see him as a good
friend as well as a talented
skateboarder. People don't
really know but Carlos has
been around for a while

hris Jones grew up skating in DC, but he does not
feel the need to wear DC shoes. He skated with me,
Yosuke, Rodent, Greg, Toast and sometimes with Johnny,
Dumb Doug and red-haired Ronnie. He moved to San
Diego three years ago because he was fed up with East
Coast winters (they suck). For the last ten years we've
been helping each other progress in skating, but on a fun
level. Being one of my best friends, Chris has made life
in San Diego a lot easier..
