that I give you guys props for putting
out a good skate mag. Second, I wanted
to tell the faggot in charge of the ads for
Thrasher to get off his acid trip. I bought
your September '98 Thrasher mag
because I love Thrasher. Well, I opened
it and the first thing I see is some porn
crap from Fresh Jive. What the hell
does a freaking naked woman have to
do with skating? Nothing! I buy
Thrasher to read about skating. If I
wanted to see a naked blonde I would
buy a Playboy. See where I'm coming
from? Skating has nothing to do with
porn, and porn has nothing to do with
Thrasher since it's a mag about skating,
not porn. So do us all a favor and put a
skateboard ad there next time. I would

privileged enough to see him skate at
the Brooklyn Banks in the summer of
95. This was my first trip to NYC so I
was already in awe of my surroundings;
however, what I always remembered
most about my trip was watching Phil
skate. This guy simply stood out with-
out even trying. He was as humble as
could be, but he was shredding every-
thing in sight. He will always stand out
in my mind as the true definition of a
skateboarder. Someone who does what
they feel, is able to skate any terrain
you put in front of them and basically
enjoys the time they have while on their
board. We must learn from this that life
is way too short and can be taken from
us at any moment. Sometimes we get
so caught up images or who's doing
what that we don't really stop think
what it's all about. It's not where
you're from or where you're at; it's
I how you live your life while you're
here. Let's not take the time we have
on our boards for granted, as we need
to hold on to this wonderful sport as
long as we can. Phil Shao will never bet
forgotten. Rest in peace.
