HARD LINE
On the surface you will read or
hear how skateboarding
Lost another of its finest sons.
That's not the way it is.
True skateboarders never leave.
True skateboarders are kept alive
by the stories they leave behind.
The streets will remember.
The ramps will never forget.
The pools, empty or now filled, will
never forget.
The stories the spots will tell about
Phil will last forever.
Anyone who ever met, skated or
saw Phil skate will
keep him alive as long
as they are breathing.
The memories won't.
fade.
They can't.
Phil may be gone
But he will never be
forgotten.
Phil will always be here.
You know he will.
Forever.

world plummeting straight down to
hell because women simply won't
accept their place. As men, we try to
direct them to that place, but, inci-
dentally, we ourselves have no clue
where exactly that place is; however,
we do know where it is not. And that,

DOWN TIME
Hello, my name is
Ryan. I'm 22 years old
and I've been skate-
boarding for about 11.
years. Although skating for half of
my life has ruined most of my body,
I would never exchange the time I
spent skating for anything else. Knee
surgery, ankle surgery, dislocated
joints, broken bones; they all seem
like a small price to pay. Just like
most of you, this passion rules my
whole life and hopefully always will.
Thrasher was my first magazine and
still remains my favorite. I would like
to sincerely thank you guys and any-
