BOUNCED CHECK
I've been in too many hospital psychi-
atric wards, and it seems like every time I
get out I get good as shit. I'm even spon-
sored by a skateboard shop called
Shredders, and I've been ridin' for them.
about five years. I've also known some
good skaters like Karl, Pat, Reese Forbes,
Andrew, and Paul McElroy, who I give
mad shout outs to. I hope one day I can
stay out of the nuthouse and get big. One
year is all I need. I've been skateboarding
for six years and I'm 23 years old; I skate
like da beast on the streets. I got mad-ass
tricks-like my favorites are handrails, f/s
bluntslides 180° out, pop shove-its, and
mostly kickflips. Peace out.

BACK FROM THE TRACK
What's up? This is a letter telling you a
story that is just one in my life. I grew up
in an inner city "ghetto" in Atlanta, GA. At
10 years old I got a skateboard and imme-
diately found my calling. I rode it day and
night. At about the age of 13 or 14 I start-
ed skating with the older kids in my 'hood
because I had a launch ramp. That was
about 1990. By then, Matt Hensley and
Mike Vallely were my fuckin' heroes. I had
the cargo pants, shaved head, chain wal-
let, everything but
the tattoos. Well, by
on a $10,000
bond about a
month ago. It
took 3 1/2
months for my
friends to
scrape it up.
I got some
money from.
a good friend and started
skating again, and I haven't
touched any drug or had a
drink since. Skateboarding saved my life.
You hear that, Mom and Dad?
Skateboarding saved my life. At first I
blamed my junkie status on skateboard-
ing; skateboarding got me into punk, punk
got me into drugs, drugs took my life. But
in the end, skateboarding saved me,
Vallely and Hensley are still the men, and
GBH and the Clash are still my favorite
bands. Oh well, I just felt like writing this.

HANDLIN' BUSINESS
First of all, I ain't no skater. I was at this
girl's house and I seen this skateboarder
magazine. I started reading it and I recog-
nized someone:
Peter Smolik.

the age of 17 every-
one I skated with
(including myself)
was sponsored. I was
one of the best
skaters in the ATL.
Well, being a white
boy from the ghetto, I
always liked punk
rock from about 12
years old. When I was 18 all of a sudden,
because of Rancid, punks were cool I
guess, because every little girl at school
wanted to fuck me because I had tattoos (I
started getting them at 17 and am almost
sleeved now), dyed hair, and wore a
leather jacket with spikes on it. After a few
months, my weed and beer turned to
heroin and gin. I lost it all, kid; no skate,
no home, no friends, no life. Well, at age
21 I got busted for heroin possession.
Fucked up, huh? The whole time I sat in
jail after the withdrawals left me, I thought
about being free. The most freedom I ever
felt was on a skateboard. I was released

and my home-

He was drunk and
shit, talkin' about
he was from LA or
Long Beach or
some shit. I was sayin', "I don't give a
fuck," and me and my homie Carlos
whooped like four white dudes, including
that busta Smolik. I then read the article
on him and he said, page 81, "I was in the
ghetto, those 2 eses came up talkin' shit
and we took care of business. Period."
Why is this fool frontin', and why was he
in my neighborhood anyway? If you're
readin' this shit, bitch ass Peter Smolik,
come back down here and we'll handle
this. I'm in Oakland right now, handlin"
some shit. So if you're ever in Frisco or
somethin' come across the bay and show.
your face biotch! I'll be chillin' on the six-
