NIGHT SCHOOL
I'm 17 and have been skating for
almost 3 years now. I've always stuck
with it. Without it I don't know.

days, but lately my days have been
shitty. I've fucked both my ankles,
and I'm too shook to try anything
close to being big. Past few months
I've also had real hard times to deal
with, problems with my homies and
the law. I've always been able to for-

I am a 15-year-old skater from
Reston, VA. At our local video arcade
a skateboarding game was just
added in. The player stands on an
old school board and does tricks like
1600 shuvits and bullshit
like that. I skate near the
arcade a lot and then little
fuckers come out asking
me if I can do superflips
and shit. I also snowboard
and when kids ask me if I
ride, I say, "yes." Then they
say, "Do you have a K2?"
"No," I say, then they ask
Ime if I can 1600 mistyflip!

about Jay Adams I read in an ancient
manuscript called Skateboarder. I've
tried to keep this attitude for the last
22 years I've skateboarded. I'm not
counting my limited time on the
dreaded metal wheel 2x4 boards.
Never stop skating, never stop skat-
ing, never stop skating! My prayers
go out to you and yours, Jay.

I'm writing to tell you about a
fucked up thing that has happened. I
live in Kentucky and we used to go to
this one roller rink. It was a roller rink
split in two halves with a skatepark.
at one end and roller skaters and
bladers at the other. The skatepark
consisted of a killer metal spine ramp
with a 15 ft roll in on one side and a
20 ft wallride on the other. The street
course had a wallride ramp and a
couple other cool things. Anyway, we
drove there only to find out that
there were no more skateboards
allowed, only
rollerblades
and skates.
