"I really got to know Matt and Pete at the Linda
Vista skatepark. They were there every day, tearing
the ramp to pieces and causing mischief of all sorts.
One time we found a can of spray paint at the park,
and everyone started coating the ramps, platforms
and each other's boards with pictures and sayings.
Meaning to quote an Indy ad, Pete mistakenly wrote
"Indy Suremacy" in big block letters across the vert
ramp. After initially laughing at the misspelling, the
saying quickly caught on. Soon, it became one of our
favorite calls to yell out across the skatepark to show
our approval of something." -Stephen Bailey
"I GOT LAST PLACE IN
BOSTON, AND PETER
GOT DEAD LAST IN
HOLLYWOOD.
HOPEFULLY SOMEDAY
EDDIE CAN GET LAST
PLACE, TOO."
-MATT ON CONTESTS
Clockwise from top: Peter corkscrews a 5-0 revert around the corner at Kelly's. On the Phelps official gnar-gnar scale, this scores an 8 out of 11. Eddy
breaks down a barrier that most kids weren't even aware existed. Show this to your friends that used to skate. Moffett locks into an ollie over the canyon
at Kelly's death star clamshell. A piece of plywood and nerves of steel got Matt up into this precarious 50-50 on an 8" wide ledge in downtown San Diego.
