FORSE
66 THRASHER
PIPE DREAMS
We split Peru early because a lot of the gang wanted to see
the ancient ruins of Machupicchu in the South of Peru. That
kind of shit is cool if you can't skate, but I knew what was
waiting in Quito. After last year's recon, we brought the guns
to the pit and it was on! Cards, Paez, Drehobl, Agah, and the
gang all tore it to pieces, grinding ungrindable edges and leav-
ing paint and aluminum in places where no person has ever
been. Peter Hewitt absolutely ruled the place: frontside inverts
into the pipe, frontside thrusters way up in the upper quad-
rant, and balls-out speed that needed no Spanish translation
to the 500 people in attendance.
There were some dark moments in our Ecuadorian experi-
ence: Karma, Rick I, and some others got chased and maced
by some angry locals, Karma broke some windows and got
caught, Kirby slammed in the pipe, and Arco got knocked
when he hit the hole in the snake into the pipe. But the biggest
show boat scam was Choppy standing on top of the pipe for
Spread: Johnzo gettin' Gonzo on his way back
towards the pipe.
Clockwise from sequence: Jesse Paez can
do this frontside noseblunt shit anywhere, the
proof is in the pictures. "They love us out here,
really." Down the line.
Centerspread: When he snapped this ollie,
every eye in the park was on him. Jesse Paez
don't say much, he lets his skating do the talking.
