TAFRA
Saturday, June 14
The weather's nice, so Vans Scotty Dog, The Kid, Cuckoo Ed,
Temple, snow-
board. Ed rules the slopes. We finish punishing the pow-pow and
all go to the bowl to take care of business. But it's not as much fun
as it was the day before, because our legs are not working like they
should be; they're like Jell-O. Plus, Eddy ruined his leg on the tram-
poline. So, we do what I'm good at, which is eat food, and sleep.
Clockwise from far left:
Karma snaps a frontside at High Cascade. Alan
Petersen doesn't need to be strapped in to do a snow-
dog-style method. As the shadows stretch into
evening, there's time for one last Smith before
heading back to the City. Jason Jessee poaches an
eggplant at Windells.
Sunday, June 15
Take up to the sound of Scott Banana Arm clapping, saying what a
Wbeautiful day it is. He's right, so we motivate by swimming, eating,
and napping. By 6:00 pm, it's time to go to High Cascade to ride. Me and
AP skate the vert ramp for about 20 minutes, but the sun is still too high,
so we sit around and wait and watch as Simon organizes at least 30 kids
together to do a double kickflip over the hip, and whoever lands it first
wins his CD player and about 30 rock CDs. The kid that won got so stoked
on the CD player, but not on the music selection. The '80s ruled. Too bad
it wasn't new wave or else I would've made Alan do it. We finally go and
skate the vert with AP killing it. This guy Matt Whitlock rules also, and Ed
does an air conditioner even with his bad leg on the street course. That
night, there's more betting with Alan winning, Ed doing good, Simon los-
ing at least 100 bucks, and lots of drinking and nudity. Thanks, Ed, for the
cocktails and snacks. Also, I think someone got slapped and maybe
peed on.
Monday, June 16
Eventually sleep at 5:30 am, then up at 9:00 am for
more fun. We swim, and I go to the airport to get
the fuck out of there. We've all had enough. High
Cascade and Windells have great stuff to skate. Thanks.
Skateboarding rules and burns calories.
