on the only good curb in your sorry
town, it's hard not to catch yourself
day dreaming about what it would
be like if you and your friends were
all sponsored skaters living in
California. Ahh, the good life: filming.
for videos, bombing rails, owning
extra-large headphones and thirty
pairs of shoes. But that could never
happen. Right?
Meet Dave Mayhew, Aaron Snyder,
Tyrone Olson, and Pete Lehman, four
friends from Madison, Wisconsin,
who are living your dream.
How old are you guys and who are
your sponsors?
Dave: I'm 22 and I skate for Maple.
Krux, Shorty's, Lucky Lucy, Osiris
Shoes and Echo.
Aaron: I'm 20 and I ride for Shorty's
Skateboards and Osiris."
Tyrone: I'm 22 and ride for Evol. Krux,
Osiris, Speed Wheels, TSA and Shorty's.
Pete: I'm 21 and ride for Voice, Krux
and Pacific Drive.
When did you start skating together?
Pete: It was Dave and Tyrone first.
Dave: It started with Tyrone.
Tyrone: Yeah, I skated with Dave's
brother Chris and the older group. I
remember coming over with Chris and
skating his quarter-pipes, and me and
Dave were the same age and sort of
just clicked.
Dave: He lived right down the street.
(How old were you?
Dave: 14.
Tyrone: 1988. Back to the Future, Thrashin'.
Dave: Then after that we met Pete through
the skateshop, California Connection.
Pete: That was the roots of our group,
Tyrone: They hooked us up! They,
gave us everything.
Aaron: I met these guys when I was 12.
Dave: Aaron's from Green Bay.
What are some of your first memo-
ries of each other?
Dave: Pete would do ollie impossi
bles, boy. He was the original ollie"
impossible king!
What about Tyrone?
Dave: Tyrone was just a soldier. He was
ready to die.
Pete: He was the only young kid who
got to skate with the older crew. He was
so crazy, they kind of respected him.
Aaron: I didn't know Tyrone, but I'd.
heard of Tyrone-all the way up in
Cheeseheads
in
Paradise
