Here: OG Backside tailslide, Montgomery st, Sr.
sequence: varial heelflip, pine st, Blood.
So many pros come out of that place and during
that time: Henry Sanchez,
Mike Carroll, Dinger, you.
Why do you think so many
come out of there?
'Cause we had the best
place to skate right at our
feet. We just pushed each
other to be the best that we
could be at skating.
Now that EMB is a bust,
and Pier 7 is "the spot," is
the camaraderie still there?
How is it different?
We're still one big crew,
just a new spot. We still love
each other there, just other
places some of us need to be
moved now.
Lots of skaters come and
go and many still remain,
who do you miss skating
with? Who of the newer
ones do you really enjoy
skating with?
Ron Matuska, Jake Vogel
and Jim Thiebaud are the
people I miss skating with.
I'm also jealous of Huf,
'cause he gets to skate with
Mark Gonzales.
Is EMB for life?
It's on my arm, it's most
definitely for life.
You've done a lot of miles
across the country. What
are some of the better
places you've skated?
The best places I've been on
the road are Chicago, Philly,
New York and the schools in
Los Angeles.
All the demos I've seen you
do you seem to take time to
talk to the skaters and
hang out with them, drink
their beer, and all. Do you
think that's important?
That's very important,
because it lets them know.
that they're no different than
you. We're all just people try-
ing to survive. There's no
need for any of the bullshit,
we need to try and chill.
ries. Tell us about what you've been
through and what you think you either lost
or gained and how you came out of it.
Yeah, I did my share of drugs growing up. None of that
stuff seemed to bother me, I could easily control the high.
So many people come into skating for a short peri-
od of time, but you've been around for a while and
still remain, where do you get your inspiration and
desire to continue from?
My inspiration comes from getting bored with my
Sega Saturn. I'm just like Yoda,
"I let 'em know there was now a
king presiding in these areas
What happened in Canada that night you busted
out a windshield of like the city's mayor?
Bill Weiss thought Frisco was soft, so I showed him
that Frisco niggas ain't no punks. Get in our way, and
we're going to get pumped.
Drugs. There have been lots of rumors, sto-

So, when crack was introduced to me via some thug nig-
gas, I figured, "Shit, just one more to try." That was a
wrong move, not a good idea. Pretty soon I liked the drug
more than myself. I eventually quit, and when I think about
it, it definitely made me miss some really good years. I had
to think of what I was missing before I finally quit. I really
wanted what I was missing more than the high.
I'll be around forever.
What is your daily routine
like now?
Wake up, smoke a blunt,
get coffee, feed the cat, play
Madden G7, then go skate.
What are some words of
advice for younger kids who
are starting to skate now?
Stick with it, don't be a
pussy. Don't quit just 'cause
you suck, 'cause if you quit,
you'll never know what it feels
like when you skate and land
your tricks with control, that's
the best feeling ever.
How about to those skaters
who are sponsored and
dreaming of turning pro?
Move to one of the bigger.
coastal cities and let your
skills be seen. And don't run
your mouth, 'cause then
you'll be a dog.
And for the pros and compa-
ny owners?
Quit talking shit about each
other and give up on battling
with the ads. It makes you
look stupid. Plus, you might
say some shit about someone
I like, then I'll have to help.
them fuck you up.
Do you take regular showers
now? If so, do they call you
"Big Not So Dirty Anymore,"
or are you still "Dirty"?
No, I don't. I'm very much
still Dirt, I just be frontin' nowa-
days. I haven't taken a shower
in at least a week. You know,
new clothes are enough.
Who would you like to give
the obligatory shout-outs to?
Jim Thiebaud, Jake Phelps,
Herek Britt, Ed, Dave, Leanne,
Kent at FTC, Greg Carroll for all
the years of support, and every-
one out of Frisco. If I forgot you,
take a look at the list, you
weren't the only one.
I understand you're tight
with The Raiders, will we be seeing you on
the field anytime soon?
Yep, right on the 50 yard line. Season tickets from
my nigga, Lamar Lyons. He plays safety. He's a rook-
ie from The Washington Huskies. I met him through
my girlfriend, he's her friend's boyfriend. He's sick,
fool. I'm talking special teams.
