LONG JOHN
Recently, I was sitting in my Home-
Ec class, and my teacher read my
shirt that said. "Skateboarders suck."
and said. "That's terrible. My son's a
skater!" After I explained to her that
my shirt was sarcasm, she said her
son's name was Mike Davis and that he
was exploring all the skateparks on the
Pacific Coast. She said he was skating
with Tony Hawk, then she yelled at me
for crapping my panes in school! She said
they were taping for a Gravity
Longboards video. I have a question: Is
this only cool to me? Because I have an
old skateboard superstars video, and
these guys just go to Christian Hosol's
house and ask him to skate. Same with
the dude from the Thrasher video that
had the Tony Hawk shoe collection, do
all the star skaters just pop up every
where in California and skate with you!
If you're out there, Mike, mention me to
your mom. Tom Knox is
still a dork!

A lot of people at my school think
that I'm a poser. I like to skate with big
wheels and a wide board. I don't do flip
tricks or tricks where I have to manipu
late my skateboard. It's just not me.
Sometimes they won't even go skating
with me because they think I'm a poser.
Do you think I'm a poser?

After reading this, my
heart was moved.
Where I live, there are a
lot of motivated and
impressionable young
skaters. I believe that if
Danny would make his way over here
and speak to these teenagers, he could
leave a lasting impression on them. A lot
of these kids attend a church youth
group here in Yosemite Lakes Park.
which is fantastic, but some are experi-
menting with drugs and alcohol as well.
Danny sounds like a guy these kids
would listen to for sure. I have a strong
feeling about Danny and what he's
been through and that he could make an
impact on our teens today.

Then flip it over and

COFFIN CASE
I normally don't care what other peo-
ple decide to do in their personal lives
and have always believed in individual
thought: do what you think is right, not
what other people tell you to do.
That's what I see punk as being about.
Pay attention to where your money
goes and who you support with it.
