San Francisco's Maritime Hall rocked
when it was invaded by 1,000 messen-
gers, 14 bands, 60 skaters, 1 ramp and
even a trapeze artist for an exciting event
that was held in conjunction with the
Bike Messengers World Championships.
in the City by the Bay.
When I got to the hall, the intersection
was completely jammed with bicycles.
Critical mass was shutting down the Bay
Bridge on-ramp, and the pigs were doing
everything in their power to make the com-
mute go smoother. Once Inside, I headed
upstairs to check out the ramp action.
Bands were playing-Men's Club. Creeps
in Exile, Joy of Six, and a bunch of other
trendoids-but all eyes were on the freshly
Masonited vert ramp. The crowd and the
skaters were going fucking insane.
Highlights included Bob Burnquist's head
high ollies, Max Schaaf's total control,
and even Tommy G throw-
ing down for his City Boys
Other heads in the mix:
Micke, Stranger, Andy Roy,
Cardiel, Doggin, Bay, Jaya,
Coco, Pherris, Arco, and
even Danny Sargent back

beanplanted and broke his wrist.
It started at 6:00 pm and went until 2:00
am. With all the beer and slamming, it was
making my ribs hurt from laughing so hard.
It was a truly wonderful night in the City.
