call it continental, because
donuts are only served in the
US. After packing in the pastries
and loading the van, we were
back on the road through
Chicago and off to Wisconsin to
the next demo.
We rolled into Wisconsin a lit-
tle early and a bit anxious to
skate. We got to the shop, and
they directed us to a skatepark
right down the street where we
occupied ourselves until they got
all the demo obstacles ready for
us. After dodging the rain for a
few minutes, we checked out the
park, ate some food, and headed
back to the demo. The demo
went off good, thanks to Mother
Nature. We finally said our good-
byes and headed to our next
demo in Springfield, IL.
On our way back to Illinois,
Nanda checked in with Sonic
headquarters and came back to
the van, proclaiming that I was
going to be twenty dollars richer,
because Simon was back on the
road and meeting us there. What
happened? There are many vari-
ations to the story, but I'll believe
the one about a military dad and
three hundred bucks to leave his
daughter's house.
We arrived in Springfield, IL,
and, after a million wrong turns,
we finally arrived at Skank
Skates--a suitable name for the
place. There wasn't much there.
but we all managed to have
some fun, said our goodbyes
again, and headed to our hotel
overlooking a Steak and
Shake--a wonderful place for a
twelve-pack and a post 4th of
July fireworks show. After wak-1
ing up half of the motel and
startling the chef, the show was
over almost as soon as it began.
and off to sleep we went with
images of the local trooper
knocking down our door.
We made a clean break out of
Springfield and headed off to
Boulder, CO. All the driving
caused some tension between
us. Wee Man hit me in the face
for no reason. Just because he
won a wrestling match, his head
got as big as his teeth. But, wait
till the rematch.
We arrived in Boulder early
enough to check out the park
where the next day's demo was
going to be, then the shop
checked us into the first-rate
"Great American Motel." The plan
was to demo until 3pm, then
check out the Warped Tour in
Denver. The demo went good
and everyone was totally rip-
ping. We finished with the typi-
cal shirt sign/hand shake/board
toss thing and headed to the
infamous Red Rocks to check out
the show. After seeing enough
punk rock, pierced, alternative
people to last a lifetime, we hit
