Speak magazine debuted with an
"in depth" investigative report on the
Josh Swindell, Steven Mateus,
Keith Ogden incident. The piece is
entitled "The story of a skateboard, a
DUST IN THE WIND
Swindell for his part is report-
edly down for fifteen to life. The
author is one Neil Fineman,
who previously gained fame with
his fudge packing saccharine
Volleyball book, Kings of the
Beach. Curiously, at one point
wasn't, isn't Fineman com-
missioned by Mr Powell to
write the definitive history of
skateboarding? The Speak
mag is art directed by
David Carson, the interna-
tionally prominent designer
who started at Action Now
and later did the slick
Transworld skateboarding
magazine. Everybody from
Andy Jenkins, Jay Adams,
Gator, Danny Way, Jason
Peters, Rick Kosick, the
Mendenez Brothers, Chris
Pontius, and Thrasher mag have
been dragged into this ripe tripe. The
most alarming exposé was that
Think and Droors were owned by the

sources relate that Kris Markovich
