The Bride of
Grindenstein
DEEP IN THE LABORATORY of Doctor Grindenstein, a hideous monster was
brought to life from the organs and the arteries of the dead. Utilizing the deceased
curbs and blocks of a society set on self-destruct, the doctor created a living being
reinforced with the cement coping of abandoned pools and the charred bones of
black marble benches. On the night of a tremendous electrical storm, a bolt of light-
ning carried the spark of life to the body that contained the brain of a madman.
The monster quickly broke free from the chains that bound it down and soon was
roaming the city streets at will, tearing chunks of concrete off curb obstructions and
decimating any coping blocks which stood in its way. Frightened of that which they
could not understand, the town
townspeople f fled in terror from the sight of Doctor Grind-
basement of city hall to formulate a
s creation and gathered together in the basement of city
enstein's creation and
strategy on how to rid themselves of this rampaging monstrosity.
Out of the doors they ran, an angry mob armed with torches, shovels and pick
axes, seeking to destroy the gruesome apparition that struck horror in their cold
and ignorant hearts. They chased it down to an old mill house and set the place on
fire, cheering as the flames rose high into the night sky. Cowering in the basement
of the mill, the monster bided its time in a pool of stagnant water, escaping the
blaze which the horde hoped would consume it.
