TRASH
BITE THIS
Initially, the internationally distributed photographs of Pearl Jam's
Eddie Vedder wearing Indy logo festooned T-shirts on stage didn't
seem to mean much. However, when terminal hippy Neil Young was
spotted in Felton, California, wearing the indisputably cross-like logo
as well, it appeared something more was up. Dickvak and the
Denike brothers are up in arms over the tremendous coincidence.
Elsewhere, no one was particularly surprised to see hundreds of
Tokyo teens, Japanese multinational execs and middle-age Kyoto
matrons all sporting Indy Ts. However, when Vedder arrived at the
Surfrider Foundation's HQ to deliver his band's $50,000 donation,
something was afoot. Executive 'rider Pierce Flynn, PhD, appeared
to be wearing some sexy Trans Tracker Worldish garments. In an obvi-
ous effort to dramatize "how our oceans are turning into sewers,"
Vedder asked to be photographed with Dr Flynn next to the toilet.
In keeping with the eco-crossover trend, it is
widely rumored that onetime Surfrider headman
David Saltman is involved in elaborate R&D
testing prototypes for an ultra lightweight com-
posite skate deck made from 100% recycled
materials. The creation of this grid core type
material is said to be basically harmless to the
environment. Equally green is Venture czar Keith
Cochrane, who is widely expanding his truck

SOFT PARADE
With the eyes of the world fixated on

What is even odder is the fact that

recycling worn-out urethane skateboard wheels.
MEDIA MASSACRE
Socrates was observed recently in NYC's
Supreme store filming director Larry Clark and
the usual Gotham suspects. His sixty-hour tour
video may be released in an expanded format.
Everybody's favorite video beatdown star
Rodney King has been seen hanging around
Malibu recently. Reportedly, the man who suf
fered so publicly at the hands of the LAPD is
now deep into the surf/skate thing. On many
mornings King can be seen surfing at the leg
endary point peak after which Chevrolets and
Barbie Dolls are named. For cross-training
tactics, Rodney is said to favor a 36 by 8 inch
roller. Longtime local gurus Tim Dion and Phil
Becker are said to be somehow hooked up to
all of this, but deny all. In the meantime, citizen.
King tries to cool out five years after the incident
despite the LA blue boys' ever-present scrutiny.

fantasy, or just a great scam, a petal crushed by
the backside of Ms Campbell was deemed to be

float was called "Hide 'N' Seek" and it was pop.

WAVE SLAVES
The brokering of skate/surf skills in Hollywood
continues. Following in perennial aqua champ
Kelly Slater's footsteps is Jamie Brissick, who
attracted notice in his Baywatch TV premiere.
Word is that David Hasselhoff and the video
hierarchy are considering a contemporary skate
spin-off featuring Alva, Hackett, Brissick and
artist Sandow Birk. Also rumored in the run-
ning are Skip Engblom and Strider Wasilewski.
More horrific perhaps is the equally persuasive
allegation that Baywatch affiliate Scott Hubbel
may be doing a major motion picture on the life.
