Louisville, Kentucky, was estab-
lished in 1788 on the banks of the

Ohio River by early pioneers who could not navigate their
boats through the treacherous riverfalls of the Ohio. Today,
some 208 years later, Louisville (not pronounced Lewis-ville or
Lou-a-ville, but correctly pronounced Louie-ville) is home to a
population of skaters that most larger cities only wish they had.
