Richard Paez grew up in Visalia, just one more
small town you've never heard of out in the
deserts of central California- otherwise known as the
middle of nowhere. His father died when he was just a
baby, leaving his mother alone with him and his older
brother Jesse. They grew up skating with their friends, and
they called themselves the VSL, the Visalia Skate Locals. Over
time, people moved in and out of his life, good and bad times
came and went, school years passed, girls distracted, skating trends
grew and died, younger brothers were born- Life went on as usual, just as it
always has and always will. And Richard kept skating only because that's what
there was to do. It took a while, but people started noticing Jesse's skating and someone
sponsored him. It wasn't much longer before Richard got noticed too. Pretty soon Jesse got a
el; and now Richard is getting his big chance- turning pro for a skateboard company. He wasn't "in
ight place at the right time", or born with super powers, he isn't the spoiled son of a rich man, and he didn't
big contest. He's just a nobody from nowhere with nothing who grew up skating with his friends, and got
something he loves. He's just like you, me, or anyone else. And we're proud to have him on our team.
