NorCal Camp-Out
Far north of San Francisco, just out
side of Point Arena, on the rugged
Northern California coast, there lies a
ramp of many different planes and
edges, designed and executed by
skaters who know how to have a good
time. Pat Black and his crew have rid-
den this ramp for over seven years
and it shows in the way they have it
wired-from spine transfers to chan-
nel launches, these locals rip it like no
others. The campers showed up early
on Saturday, pitched tents and went
about their work of either skating or
sunning. Some San Francisco bands
like Los Cerveceros were imported
and the party was on. Being as how
it was in Humboldt County, there was
smoke in the air and the vibe was all
about cool. Sighted amongst the rev-
elers on this weekend were: Jason
Monroe, Joel Price, Shane Patterson.
Brian Drake, The Brazilian bombshell
named Digo, who did 540's on the
tight eight-foot transitions, Piston,
Tim Lockfeldt, John Marsh, Tom Scott,
The Hitcher, Arc, Fish, Dean Randall,
Astorga, Sash, Eddie Black, Coco,
Joey, Hubbard, PC Pete, Navarette,
Donny D and a cast of others too stray
to mention. This type of event is what
skateboarding is all about-good
friends, nice weather and great skat
ing. The world definitely needs more
weekends like this. -Windy Arden
