TRASH
ALIEN NATION
Josh Kalis and Lennie Kirk were car cruising through the
Fillmore section of SF when they were robbed at gunpoint.
The crooks took the wallets but left the car. Then the cops
came to get fingerprints and impounded the car. Unfortu-
nately for the skaters, the cops demanded registration of said vehicle
to get it out of the impound yard, but guess what? It was in the wallet.
Julien Stranger, Eric Jay, Tobin and Dune
were all seen in Portland for a quick session
or maybe a love scene for the Dunester.
Could it be that a new company called
Anti-Hero is in the works? Is it possible
that the bad boys of skating will finally
get their due? Will Bob Burnquist
and Sean Young be first to blow up?
DOWN TOWN
Luke Ogden and Dom Callan were
involved in a head-on collision on the
infamous blood alley stretch of the
Golden Gate bridge. The bad news
for Logden was that his
insurance was
SUENOS
nil and his new truck was
totaled. Will he now have
to skate to Marin to tend to
his landscaping duties?

The latest entrant into the Lollapalooza art tour sweep-
stakes is Steve Sherman. Giant mural-size blow-ups of
Sherm shots of Tony Hawk, Willy Santos, Mike Frazier and
Benji Weatherly are said to be going up on the rockfest's cir
cus scale art tent. Rumored to have pulled out of the tour
because of "corporate fascism" is Glen E Friedman. Also said
to be out of the show is skate/paint/surf motivator Stash. For

SCARS OF THE STARS
When I was thirteen years old, I was skateboarding at a Val
Surf demo in Los Angeles on the Powell fold-out ramp, which
was made out of metal. I was doing a frontside lipslide when
I leaned to pull my tail in and my board connected with some
one else's truck. I therefore slammed with full force onto my
unpadded elbow. When I realized what had just happened.
I looked at my arm and noticed the deformation and rushed
to the local hospital for pins and surgeries. The point is: Watch

Surfer Magazine editor Steve Hawk's overtures
to come on board at that mag. On Sherman's
way out of the US, he was seen with Christian
Fletcher at Cotton's Point. Another surfing
media skate crossover was seen in H30 mag's
excellent historical/current Jay Adams profile. In
this piece, which probes the roots of surf skat-
ing, Jay Boy flat-out said that to understand

When Jeff Tremaine was allegedly seen sport-
ing full-on drag attire under the LAX Metrorail
station, it sparked rumors that Big Brother was
begetting a new mag called Little Sister. Mean-
while, clean scene snowboard industry types fret

Tod Swank was evicted from his plush Del
Mar oceanfront digs and is now dwelling back at
the Foundation laboratory.
Laura Thornhill, one-time women's skate
champion, is said to be a front-runner for the
ESPN Extreme Games skate announcer slot.
Creature as we knew it is now rumored to be
officially history. Mainstream man Russ Pope
is reportedly in at CCS. His departure caused
a plethora of rumors over whether he quit or
was fired. Also gone is Jason Adams Denike
says Creature will continue on undaunted
while the Pope project could be called
Fiend and based out of San Luis Obispo.

Larry Clark's film Kids is finally out, showing a
number of New York skate types in their natural
habitat. The not-quite documentary depicts the
lads and their flames living their more or less
"normal" lives. The film has a happy ending
where everyone contracts AIDS. The high point
of this cinema epic is the unscripted beatdown
of a basketball player by
skaters. Clark now is said to
be making a new film about
Visalia, California. Other
players include Harold
Hunter, Lavar McBride
and Nick Lochman. After
the showing at the Cannes
film fest in France, Sharon
