The West Seattle scene is stronger
than ever thanks to the bowl and the
new ramp down the street. In the
confines of an old lodge, Alex Name
roth (left) grabs a lien near the roof.
OC resident and punk killer Chet
Thomas (below) sticks a frontside
kickflip in the heat of battle.
Resident transient Mark Hubbard
(right) almost gets killed in front of
his own house-it's all a blur at 40
mph. Burnside's big hip gets
fucked (far right) by Jesse Poez.
WAS HILLER
Dole
fat noseslide fakies off the
pillar through the bowled
corner. Unsponsored, right.
Our first night in town, we
drove a waitress to tears
and got kicked out of a
restaurant for the crime of
telling her what
we wanted. We
all crashed over
at Choppy and
Mike's, and the
next morning
we all found
ourselves right
back under the
bridge. We met
up with Mark
Hubbard, who
had just caught
a freight from
Seattle, and he
told us about
the new indoor
ramp up there.
We all left late
that afternoon
with Hubbard
as the Sherpa.
The road to
Seattle is lush
and green with
not too much
in-between. We
made it to the
Emerald City at
about midnight
and there was
a full session in
progress. West Seattle is the
home of the King Kong Kid-
ney, and now it also boasts a
new Masonite indoor U-pipe
right down the street. The
locals all got together and
rented an old union hall and
went to work on the living
space and the ramp. In the
limited area they managed
to make it perfect. The roof
is tight on the sides, but in
the middle it is high enough
for even Neal Hendrix, well
maybe not. Tom "Three
Tricks" Peha lives there
with a load of other gnarl
dogs who rip on all comers,
whether it be on cement,
downhill or Masonite: Swim,
Smiley, The 5, Culbertson,
Rogers and Snoop.
The Consolidated crew.
met up with us at the ramp
house along with Tershay.
Stranger and Arc, so the
session went long into the
night and was capped off
with drunken beefs felt all
the way to the tip of Baja.
Seattle is a fine town, full
of zonked indians, pseudo-
punks and trendcore wanna-
