seen. Cookiehead Jenkins was there, and he did the twisty
turny lien to tail on the big ramp, and the one Lopez did some
crazy concoction of a handflip air and real high, too. I was
dropping in on the bowled ramp in practice, and Rick Howard
came up to do a crooked grind to fakie. I was blind to him, and
I got flipped to the flat and cut my elbow. I'm telling you, prac-
tice is brutal. It's like demolition derby; a lot of people get
angry. Strange! When you go to the next comp, don't forget
to see Peter Hewitt of Goodtimes skate-you'll leave with
bloody fingers. I think I bit off everyone else's nails, too. I bet
you think Moses of Mad Circle only skates street. Wrong! He
was ripping the vert, need I say more? What an inspiration.
He's got some good influences up there in Vancouver, hanging
with Colin McKay and "Sluggo" Rob Boyce. Mako Urabe did
the biggest 360 flip tailgrab, that's the tricks. Ron Whaley got
ripped off, by the way. He even beat Ethan Fowler, if I were to
judge it in a judgy sort of way. Flip to however you like it, sun-
nyside-up, over-hard, scrambled, give it up for Ron. Clyde Singleton,
hardflip every time, making it look so easy. (Clyde, thanks for skateboard-
ing.) I was sitting next to Mike Carroll. (Mike, congratulations on the
frontside kickflip over the garbage can of the grand. I saw every bit of it.
It was like lust of the eyes. Oh, so sweet.) I saw Greg out there ripping.
Greg Carroll, team manager of Think. And Dan Drehobl, raw like steak tar-
tar. Anyway, not to go off or anything, Tas Pappas, the kid from down under,
did a kickflip on vert about eight feet high and bobbled his board off his
chest. My eyes still can't put two and two together as for what happened
up there so that he could make this trick. So, he landed anyway. Sorry folks,
there is no explanation for this one.
And with that, I'm happy I could have been there. And what could I say.
I could write till the end of time about this last great skateboard event.
Everyone impressed me to the utmost. Until next time, I love you all.

Clockwise from top: Richard Lopez rocks to King Diamond and
does the frontside pizzaflip face high. Big ollie? Gotta be Mike
Crum. Board beatdown. Danny Way and Mike Vallely share the
spotlight. Scorched skin means nothing to Danny Way as he
kickflips the box. Colin McKay has got a sweet Cab crooked grind.
Homegrown Floridian Dave Duren, switch frontside 180° flip.
