PHLEGM FLAM
Will Jason Lee's film outing opposite Shannon Doherty lead to
a situation comedy on the Fox Network? Alaric Valentin, who's
currently said to be organizing a 2500 person luau for Paramount
Pictures' Star Trek crew, is alleged to be involved in this odd deal.
Also fabled to be on tap for this urban lifeguard extravaganza is
SMA head Skip Engblom, who is said to be in the running for a part in
the Gilligan's Island movie. Both Swenson and Vitello were seen at soft
surfboard and snowboard inventor Mike Doyle's recent art opening at
Santa Monica's Julie Rico Gallery. Surfer/skater/screenwriter Lon Porter
was also in attendance fueling further speculation. Ms Rico meanwhile
looked intimate with Perry Farrell while artists Robert Williams,
Suzanne Williams, Michael Knowlton (who was co-showing
with Doyle), Sandow Birk and Lowboy worried over Kevin
"Tumbleweed" Ancell's latest commission. It seems that

THE TIMES
The latest Thrasher vid, 9-1-1 Emergency!
has created quite a ruckus with the traffic
division of the SFPD. Correctly identify the
amount of stop signs ignored and enter

Ancell is being offered
to paint hugely realistic
nude portraits of a noto-
rious queen and her gay
prince and dog. Will the
Tumbleweed go for the
uncut poodle pup or turn
down the major money?
WHO AM I?
Skater Jherek Britt of Durango, CO, was
first
to spot funny guy Mike York behind
the mask in the April 1995 issue and went
home with a genuine Thrasher T-shirt.

Free boys Brad Gerlach and Don-
ovan Frankenreiter have been seen
dickering with skate collector Dale
Smith recently. The objects of these
pro surfers' affections are 1970s
Hobie Greg Weaver 24" models.
Also on the vintage scene is David
Hackett who's been running Big
Black hill flat out at midnight on a
70s Arrow model of his own design.

he sold a couple of examples of his vintage large computer center
rolling stock to a Japanese collector. Prices
rumored in the vicinity of five thousand dollars
have been mentioned as the ticket to obtain the
core of Fisher's collection. Fellow enthusiast
Keith Cochrane has let it be known that he'll
part with one of his Maharaja downhill racers for
a hefty sum. Jiro Hanave, the dean of Nippon's
collectors, is reported to be interested. Equally
obtuse are the
reports that the

late 50s, early '60s custom cues. Skipperboy
denies all knowledge, but word is that he did
just set up Pipeline master Strider Wasilewski
with a new old-style stick. OG rat Jay Adams is
also pumping up his quiver. His recent North
Shore skate sessions with multiple World
Longboard Champ Joel Tudor have drawn much
attention. Tudor surfed in the recent World
Contest wearing the hat of a certain esoteric
skate company. Joel reportedly got so much
heat from his then clothing sponsor over this and
his skating in general that he had to search out a
better sponsor hook-up.
BLOW HARD
Tony Hawk was viewed in the vicinity of Plan
B's secret vert ramp in the company of a profes-
sional ice skating female.

The latest incarnation of
the embryonic organization
is called the International
Association of Skateboard
Companies. Head man Jim

and he's on-line. At pre-
sent, twenty-one compa-
nies have joined the new
organization. Individuals
inputting new concepts
include Steve Douglas,
Carroll, Schmitt, Swank,
Bowers, Jimenez, Gray,
Dotson, Pierre André, Klindt, Reggie Barnes,
Doug Windbury, Mountain, Tony Buyalos,
Darryl Denney, Eric Meyer and Bud Smith. A
notorious dissenting individual is Waltwing
Teague who is rumored very concerned over
how Dan and Danielle Bostick are to be treated.
Apparently the Gull man feels the Bosticks need
a square deal. Another rumor has Walt, Ray
Underhill and Steve Saiz starting a seniors-over-
forty tour. If this is true, will Teague ride?
SHOE FLY
Are the factory and office workers of a cer-
tain Orange County skate shoe market going
out on strike? Will sponsored skaters also join
the protest as well?
Has Rocco actually moved to Huntington
Beach? Will Frank Messman turn the World
empire into a snow/cement combine? Will Steve
become the once and future shoe king?
Is Jesse Martinez sporting a new World tat? It
makes a good counterpoint to his existent (old)
Powell one.
Has one-time skate artist turned porn king
MoFo began recruiting auteurs for his burgeon-
ing film company? In recent days, Mo has been
observed hitting up Jeff Van Dusen, Ancell and
KT for participation, collaboration in Project 4X.

show, Way was unstoppable, Tas was unbeliev
able, Senn burned, Speyer flew and Vallely won.
Tom Curren, multiple World Surfing Champ, is
living in Goleta, CA, and laying low. Recently,
Tommy was seen sliding 'crete at the T Bowl.
Fourth grade teacher Mrs Pastras, mother of
Dune, was minding her own business walking
down the street when she fell in an open man-
hole. Fortunately, she has a very capable lawyer.
Jahmal Williams moved to Powell. Williams'
presence started rumors that Mike Santarossa
would soon follow. Meanwhile, Speyer and Senn
are desperately seeking Todd Hastings.
Glen E Friedman, Russell Simmons and Jam
Master Jay were all seen dining with Eazy-E two
weeks before he died of AIDS. According to
Glen, "Eazy looked great, it was the healthiest.
and happiest I'd ever seen him."
Mega swells converged on the Del Mar river
mouth. The surf break was salted in from the
rains and, as a result, the triple overhead sets
were extremely hollow and fast. Making an
impact on the scene were Danny Way, Brian
Brannon, Cheyne Dorian, Chris Miller and
Lance Dawes. While Sherman sweated it out on
his "too short" 7'6" island guns, Mirko Mangum
was doing overhead snapback floaters.
