Sonora police will seek
a complaint of battery
against a seventeen year
old Soulsbyville boy who
reportedly shoved a parking
enforcement officer in an
attempt to evade a skate-
boarding citation.
Two teenagers were seen
riding skateboards on the
sidewalk on North Washing-
ton Street about 3:30 pm
Friday, nearly hitting an
elderly woman and Sonora
Parking Enforcement Officer
Dora Clement.
Police Detective Dick
Rogers was leaving
Tuolumne County Superior
Court when he saw a youth
carrying a skateboard run
into the courthouse on Yaney
Avenue. At the same time, a
motorist stopped him and
said Clement was chasing
the youth on foot.
Rogers went back into the
building and found the eigh-
teen year old Big Oak Flat
youth hiding in the restroom.

Rogers confiscated the
skateboard and took the
youth back outside, where
they met Clement.
She said she had stopped
the skateboarders at Brad-
ford Avenue and South
Washington Street but that
the seventeen year old boy
grabbed her, gave her a hard
shove and fled.
While driving with Rogers
and the eighteen-year-old to
the police station, Clement
saw the seventeen year old
at Linoberg and Green
streets. He was then taken
into custody.
The eighteen-year-old was
cited for riding a skateboard
in illegal area and released.
The seventeen-year-old
was taken to the county
probation department and
released to his grandparents.
He was cited for illegal
skateboarding and police will
seek an additional charge of
battery against him.
