Some people believe that letting it slide means slacking
off or taking it easy. But for the skateboarder, letting it
slide refers to the razor's edge between control and disas-
ter, where the reward is a few moments of liberation and
the punishment can spell the most excruciating nard
crush or the ugliest body entanglement. Whether it's
nosesliding a ten-stair handrail or pulling a slider to fakie
on a monster vert ramp, there is one split-second between
wheel contact and wood slappage that can mean the dif-
ference between glory and trauma. The photos tacked up
in this segment show that while a skateboard is a plank
of wood ready to roll, grind, flip or fly, it can also slice
across any smooth surface with the greatest of ease.
