The Mighty Mighty Bosstones
limp, they've got a CD called Idjit Savant and
are out on the road with Gwar and Buzz Oven
The greatest stagedive ever witnessed by
Dicky Barrett of The Mighty Mighty Boss-
tones occurred in Europe as a foolish fan took...Nothing is sacred to Weird Al Yankovich,
a thirty-foot fall from the rafters to the floor.
"We thought it was a lightman who lost his
footing." says Barrett. "They stretchered him
out. On the home front, The Bosstones' lat
est CD Question The Answers shows a band
that rocks harder with every new release...
The original masher himself, Duane Peters is
smashin' it up in a band called the US Bombs
along with Kerry Martinez and Benny from
Shattered Faith, and Steve Reynolds from
Eddie & The Subtitles. Don't expect to hear
their double seven-inch Scouts Of America on
the car radio. "We're not playing any of that
happy punk shit that's going on," says Duane.
"A lot of shit's getting broken and we're get-
ting banned from a lot of clubs." But DP and
the boyz always keep a positive perspective.
"We're playing all the piss holes," says Peters
"That's all we ever plan on playing and that's
all we have comin"... Girls Against Boys are
in again with one heck of a slab called Cruise
Yourself that is definitely worth giving a test
spin The epic landmark band China White,
whose Dangerzone Lp from the early eighties
was a supremely influential slab of metallic HB
boot kickin' fury, was recently seen gigging in
Southern California. The current incarnation
features Frank Raffino on guitar, Corey from
The Blades and The Slashers on bass, and
Lugo from Motherfist and Klüged on drums
The ever-potent TSOL with Jack Ladoga
on vocals and Ron Emory on guitar is on the
loose. Here's hoping they'll cut a new record
Just when you think The Dickies have gone

much less the noxious smegma of "Mmm
Mmm Mmm Mmm," by Crash Test Dummies.
Al gives it the bashing it deserves on his new
CD Permanent Record... True reggae music
grooves the soul in a mellow stream of electric
hypnotism. From the vaults of On U Sound,
Reggae Archive shuffles forth with a collection
of rarefied inie tracks by Carol Kalphat/Clint
Eastwood, Creation Rebel, Bim Sherman,
Prince Far I, Errol Holt, Deadley Headley and
New Age Steppers... The dank is a way of
life for The Goats, and their new Lp No Goats,
No Glory certainly shows the effects of the
high. "I'm a chain pot smoker," explains lyrical
technician Madd. "It just gets your mind to
think about things you never thought about
before. Some people can't handle it and the
government is totally against it. That paranoia
feeling can really freak you out, but if you can
just channel that shit into thinking about how
they trying to get you, then it does nothing
but cause rebellion against them, so there's no
way they're going to let it" Music calms the
savage beast, but if you're playing a guitar on
the street and don't put all of your heart into
it, people will just pass you by. That's what Ted
Hawkins found on the sidewalks of Venice.
California. Now opening for Johnny Cash with
a CD called The Next Hundred Years, Hawkins
still remembers playing on the corner. "On the
streets, I have to keep on singing, fear some-
body's going to turn and walk away," he says.
"I took that same fear to the stage, that's why
I sing so hard."
