I've dreamt about going to Brasil ever since I first saw pictures
of its cement parks in old issues of Thrasher. It looked incredible,
tropical and scary. Getting there has taken me a few years, but
after rounding up a
hellride crew of Julien
Stranger, John
Cardiel and Joey
Tershay, it wasn't
long before we
were all on
our way to
South
America.
John Cardiel (far left) and the pool at Rio Sul collided
head-on, and when things that hard connect, something
has to give. In the final tally, both took a beating.
Cards (left) punches out a head-high frontside in a land
where the hospital is the last place you ever want to
go. Rio Sul (above), the most perfect pool ever built for
skating. Check the metal coping and channel. This guy
named Bob (right) tore shit up everywhere we rode:
Switchstance frontside roll-in into the deep end at Rio
Sul. A panoramic view (below) of the Brasilian coast.
