fun. I want to design one just for the hell of it
some day, just to say I did it.
Your list of injuries is pretty extensive.
When I was a kid, I was accident prone. One)
time I was riding a motorcycle around the track
and I fell down, had to get stitches in my knee
and had to get a knee immobilizer. Then I was
playing frisbee with my dad and stepped in a
hole and broke my ankle, so I had a cast and the
knee immobilizer. And we lived on a farm type
place and these coyotes were all yelling and
everything so we're all trying to climb up on the
slides with a bunch of little neighbor kids and I
had all this stuff on my legs and then I ended up
slipping and breaking my wrist, so I had one
crutch with both legs screwed up and a cast on
my wrist, and that was before I even got into
bikes, so that just shows you my history and that
it probably wasn't the wisest choice to get into
something dangerous, but I had to do it
Are your parents behind you?
Yeah, fully. My mom died a few years ago and
she had a window by one of our ramps in the
kitchen, so she got to see us start off from bare-
ly getting out to what we were doing then, but
they just got used to it, and my dad's crazier than
I am, so I guess it's in the genes or something,
but he's totally supportive. If I wanted to be a
chess player tomorrow and just sit down and not
do any of this, I'm sure that he'd just be like,
"Whatever you want to do.
What other stuff do you do besides biking?
I like snowboarding and skydiving, and I'm
hooking up with that guy that's sponsored by
Airwalk that does a bunch of base jumping. Hel
got put in prison for a few months because he
jumped off the St Louis Arch, but he's getting out
soon and we're hooking up in New Orleans and
he's going to teach me how to do it. I'd like to
do a base jump on a bicycle, that'd be awesome,
that's like a dream come true.
And land it or just ghostride the bike away?
Oh, yeah, just ghostride the bike and skydive
off, just something really big. When I was little, I
always had those dreams about being able to fly
so it'd be to kind of fulfill that, I guess.
Well, if you're going 29' on a ramp, I think
you're pretty close to flying right there.
Yeah, I decided whenever I'm too old to land
that stuff anymore and I'm just sketchy, I can get
like an 80' ramp and just get hauling at it and just
get a couple hundred feet of air and just para-
chute off of it. Since I don't ever have to land
them, I can still get the sensation of flying up
there, that'd be awesome.
