weird, but politics, like so and so's
probably scamming ideas and
stealing people, that's whacked, no
matter what business you're in. But
things might calm down, I think it
might because people are going to
lose if they just keep on doing it,
they ain't going to go nowhere.
Do
you
And as soon as it settles
down, that's when skat-
ing's going to dominate
again, I think it's going to
have a big impact.
I think everyone has it, they just
haven't found it yet.
Do you want to study art?
Yeah, I want to go to San Fran-
cisco University of Art and make it
there through my school now, get a
scholarship, hopefully, and then just
do what I do, Doing murals, that's
what I like doing, just go forever
doing murals, painting, whatever
has to do with art, that's what I do
besides skating
When is your rap album going to
come out?
Well, I've been working on it.
What do you think of lowriders?
I hate that
shit. It's kind of
like some peo-
ple think they
Yeah. I don't know, I'm the one
who believes in God, if that's what
you want to call him, but to me,
there's definitely someone higher
than us. I mean, it's too crazy for
things to be this perfect. Things are
also fucked up, but that's our fault.
But as far as people saying that the
world is coming to an end, you just
never know. There's always been
the violence, it comes and goes,
but you never know, it might stay.
Do you think television influences
any of those things?
Yeah, like the news is all gar-
bage, because all I can see is acci-
dents. I never really even watch TV.
What's in the future of skating?
I think it will be the same, but it
will just be better.
Do you think each generation of
skaters improves it?
Yeah, because at first it was just
beyond, and then shit got crazy,
people trying
to do their own
thing, and now
it's just settling
down, and it's
even like I know him, it's kind of like
some dude that I know who skates
who's real good. Just watching him
skate, it's like that for everyone, it
makes you want to skate. When
you go skate it makes you feel
good because you just got done
watching someone skate hella
good so you feel good.
What about these days how
clothing and skateboarding seem
to go hand in hand, what do you
think of that?
That shit don't matter. It's kind of
cool, we got our own style, but it
really don't matter. If it came down
to it, shit, I'd wear some Levi's, it
doesn't really matter. But it's cool
how we got our own little scene.
What do you think is the best
way to promote skating?
I think magazines. Videos are
cool but sometimes they're kind of
complicating.
Is there anyone who you would
like to give a shout out to?
Well first of all, I would like to say
thanks to Chris and Jason and all
the team for keeping it together,
and Klindt and them trying to
make the best of it for us and
whatever they do for us, and
all my friends in San Jose and
all my
PRE
think
that
skateboarding will change?
I think skateboarding has
changed. It's almost already
there, just the style of it, just
to skate and get your tricks done.
Before, it was just keep progressing
and keep progressing for at least a
year or two years. It was like, "Oh,
that trick's old," but now it's just
like, "Oh, you can do that trick. You
got it wired, that's rad, you can do
it anytime you want." I think the
way of skating is getting better.
Just to skate and get your stuff
down, go big. Just to get it down is
the best part.
What about art, do you spend a
lot of time drawing?
Yeah, that's all I do in school, or if
I'm at home, I just draw whatever. I
think it's cool that people draw. To
me, it's me, that's what I have to
do, not even as a job, but it's just
there naturally.
Is there a connection between art
and skateboarding?
They're two completely separate
things, but they both have to do
with creation. To me, that's what art
is. If you make something, it's cre-
ation, it's art. It's like skating, bam,
you throw a dope ass line down.
When you make it look a certain
way, that's art. it's similar in a way
because when someone does a
dope line, it makes you feel good,
it makes you want to skate, and
that's how art is, you look at it and
you're like, "I want to draw that, I
want to see more of that." That's
how you can say they're kind of
alike, in creation.
Yeah, like people who just aren't
creative at all are usually people
who can't skate or draw.
have to do it
just so they can
be this certain
way. Like when
I see people that are all dressed all
psycho like they're some crazy
cholo, that ain't them, they're in a
mental block, they think they have
to be like that to be Mexican. So, I
think that whole shit's whacked, for
any race. To be white, you have to
be a skinhead, that shit don't go
nowhere, I can't stand that.
Do you think there's kids that
skate just because it's a trend or
do you think they're all in skate-
boarding because it's something.
that they want to do?
I've seen some people get in
there just to be part of the crew,
but most people do it because they
want to do it, it's just bent. They
just look forward to learning this
and that, so they just keep skating.
Do you see anything for yourself
in the future?
Just to settle down and get a
place on my own with a friend, that
would be cool. I want to try and go
to art school and still keep skating
and whatever it brings me, that's
cool, and if not, I'll always do art.
And skating, I know one day, it's
going to have to come to an end.
man. But it's here right now, so I'll
make the best of it for myself.
What about these things people
say about violence and the world
coming to an end? What do you
think about all that stuff?
like smoother,
but then it's
going to come
to an end, and
it'll be compa
nies stealing other people's riders,
or companies going out of business
because they can't get no riders.
Would you be happy if skating
went commercial and you could
get sponsored by Nike?
That's for people who are into
money, but for me, it doesn't really
matter.
That's not necessarily negative,
but then again, it's not going to
motivate you to skate.
Just publicity ruins it. Now it's
like a little Hollywood, we got our
gossip, we got our stars, we got
our dorks, we got our own respect
ed skaters. But if it just went com.
mercial, I think it would just get
worse. It might be more money to
the point where no one would have
to worry if you're pro, but when it
comes to the negative stuff, it's as
bad as it should be.
What skaters influence you?
I like watching Mike Carroll, and
it's weird because I know him now,
but when I see him skate, it's not
friends in San Francisco
who helped me out get-
ting here. I think that's i
cool. I guess it all makes
its way, but I'm just thankful it kind
of got there. Like all my friends in
Sacramento who support me, they
all know who they are, all of my
friends. Cool with my parents,
thanks to them for letting me do
what I want to do because that's
important, to my gramps, my mom,
my dad and all my brothers, and to
my girlfriend, I'll see you soon.
So, Is there anything that we left
out or is there anything else you
want to say?
Just whatever, let the shit go on
wherever it goes, you'll never know
where it's going to take you, so just
go ahead and do what you do,
good or bad, just let it flow, just
keep doing it. Look for me in the
Stereo video.
