            They
were
eating
dead
people.
Is that what you like to do in your spare
time, go shopping?
Sometimes, when I have money. Usually I'll
see a movie or play Nintendo or hang out, go
outside, go out and do stuff.
Do you go look for women?
Sure.
Who stays here?
Eric and Andy and just whoever comes in
from town, usually. It's cool sometimes, but
they don't always clean their shit up so I have
to clean it up after them.
What kind of stuff do you like to skate?
Banks, steps, ledges, any kind of street stuff,
Who has helped you get as far as you have in and New York.
skateboarding?
Gabe Morford, the most, and Ron Allen.
What has Gabe done for you?
He's taken photos of me, puts it in the maga
zine. Fun, when I use to ride for them, he use to
always do our ads and stuff.
What happened with Fun?
It just didn't work out.
You felt you had to move on?
Yeah, just moving on. Ron's cool though, he's
still doing his stuff.
Did you look at Fun as a stepping stone to
your future?
No, I thought that was going to go on for a
while, but we didn't. Now, we changed.
Everyone rides for different companies or
doesn't ride for anyone.
Did you have a problem back in New York
with getting kicked out of spots like you do
out here?
Yeah, we get kicked out of just as many spots
out there, but it's just bigger so there's more
spots to get kicked out.
What do you mean?
They just fuck around with us. This one time,
me, Justin and Keenan were at this one spot
and the guard came out and started fucking
with us and Justin started beating the shit out
of the guard and the guard was getting all
bloody, and then his friend came out and start-
ed helping him and then I don't know, they
took Justin to the precinct.
Did you jump in?
Naw, I was just watching what was happening
because Justin's a crazy guy, he was just going
off and then we were never able to skate that
spot again.
What spot was that?
It was over by my house, it was just marble
ledges in the midtown, it had no name.
What are you doing right now?
Cleaning my house up.
Why?
Because everybody stays here and lives here
at the moment.
Who do you skate with a lot?
How did you do?
Last summer, Huf (left)
took advantage of some
repairs to Love Park with
a large 360 flip. Vid by
Keenan Milton. Fat is
where it's at. Huf (below)

Vortar
All right. It was weird, but it was fun. I had
lots of fun.
Was it intimidating?
Yeah, but it was good, I liked it a lot.
Is it true that people used to recognize you
for your hair?
I cut all my hair off, by the way. You'll see
photos that I had longer hair, but I cut all that
Chris, Eric, everyone down at EMB, there's so shit off.
many people.
What's going on with EMB right now?
It's all fucked-up, the cops are always there
and they're always kicking us out and giving
people tickets. It's just like how Love Park used
to be, someone just has to go down, see the
city council or whatever, make that place legal
to skateboard.
Is it because of the ice skating rink?
Naw, because last year we were able to skate
and the ice skating rink was there, but now it's
just wack, I haven't even skated there in so long
and I want to skate there really bad.
What kind of skating do you like to see?
Clean skating, people who have lots of pop,
like popping flip tricks high and catching them,
whoever skates smooth. Like, Jason Lee is
smooth. He's got the smooth style.
How long ago did you turn pro?
I entered my first pro contest last year at the
San Francisco Contest.
How did you feel about receiving the Helmet
Head Award?
That shit was pretty gay.
Who do you live with in San Francisco now?
With Chris Keefe, he's back from New York,
Queens
What's going on in your life right now?
Nothing really. I haven't been traveling or
anything, just been hanging out in San
Francisco with the boys, skateboarding. I'm
going up to Portland for Christmas because
that's where my parents live now. They moved
up there. Burnside Project, you know.
How do your parents feel about you being
pro and all that jazz?
I guess they think it's good. They seem to like
it. It's a good experience.
What do you think about that movie, Alive,
with the big plane crash?
It's a pretty rad movie, but it was crazy what
the people were doing, man, continued on page 82)
