Tell me your name, age and where you live and skate. Joe Sierro, I'm nineteen, I live in Sacramento, California, and I usually skate street. Does Sacto
have a variety of things to skate? There are but then there aren't, because you get kicked out. So sometimes I'm forced to skate the park. How do
you like the park? It's fun, but it's different from the real stuff. When did you start skateboarding? I think it was six years ago in sixth grade. I started
off on a Sims Lester Kasai with Indys and Powell Threes. Do you have any sponsors? I ride
for Independent, Go Skate and this new company called Trust, that's it. Who do you skate
with? Nick Tershay, Neal Shaw and Gabe Navarro, but he got hurt so he's going to be
out for a little while. Who did you look up to
when you started out? Mark Gonzales,
Natas Kaupas and those kind of guys. Now, I
Joe Sierro
look up to all the progressing skaters like Cardiol, Gonz, Carroll, Henry, and all the guys that just tear it up.
Do you like the way skateboarding is progressing right now? In a way I do, but I don't think it's good for
the little kids that are trying all the flip stuff when they don't have the basics down. Any closing comments?
I'd like to thank all the friends
who stuck by me and helped
push me. Just skate for fun and
don't worry about the vibes.

Tell me your name, age, and where
you live. Chris Keefe, eighteen
years old, New York City. When did
you start skating? It'll be six years
this August. I got influenced by this
freestyle kid that skated around in
Chris Keefe
my area.
Do you
like New
York? It's
rad, but
the winter's too cold and the sum-
mer's too hot, so I like coming out
here to California and kickin' it. The
weather's great, the kids are real cool,
fresh ass spots to skate, it's just fun all-
around. Who do you skate for right
now? Fun and Venture. Who do you
look up to now? Definitely Keith
Hufnagel and Keenan Milton, two of
my best friends, Peter Bici, Ben Livers-
edge and Gino lannuchi, those are the
guys. What kind of obstacles do
you skate? A lot of steps, a lot of
ledges. In California, I like to skate
hips 'cause we don't have none back
East. What tricks do you like doing?
I like doing anything that's clean, just
big ol' kickflips, underflips and stuff
like that. Switchstance 360 flip is my
favorite trick. Any last words? Much
love to my mom and my family, Aris,
Giovanni Estevez, extra thanks to my
boy, Ron Allen, and that's about it.

Tell me your name, age, and where you live right now. Brian Chung.
I live in Berkeley, California, I'm nineteen years old. When did you
start skating? Approximately the summer of 1985. I was living in
Atlanta, Georgia, and the people who influenced me were my
cousin, Bruce, and this guy Josh. We looked up to Don Hillsman,
Tom Taylor and Andy Howell. How do you compare the scene in
Atlanta to the scene in San Francisco? Atlanta is a lot more mel-
low, there aren't as many people that skate, there's not as much
stuff to skate, but the stuff that there is to skate there is better
because it's not as used up as it is out here, but it's kind of good out
here just because you see a lot of people skating and it makes you
think that skateboarding's still alive. What do you like to skate on a
daily basis? Just about everything. I like skating mini-ramps, vert
ramps, ledges, hills and curbs. Who do you usually skate with?!
guess my roommate Ed and all the Fun guys, they live right up the
street from me. Who are your sponsors? Vans, Black Label, Spitfire
Wheels and Independent Trucks. Who do you think is rad today?
Karma, Jamie Thomas, Mark Gonzales, Kris Markovich, the list is too
long. Do you think that anyone's going to ever kickflip the four at
Wallenberg? Sure, very soon. Who might that be? Joey
McSqueeb, I don't know. Do you have any plans to go pro? I don't
know, maybe, probably not. I don't care. If I go pro, that's cool, if I
don't, then that's fine also. What other types of activities do you
do when you're not out skating? Usually I'm sleeping, doing home-
work, taking part in a friendly game of golf, or out fishing with the
good ol' boys. Are you going to school right now? Yeah, University
of California at Berkeley. What do you plan to do after school? I
was planning to become a chemical engineer, but I've decided to do
otherwise 'cause it's too hard, so now hopefully, I'll be a pediatrician
and get accepted to a good medical school with a Bachelor's
Degree in Psy-
chology. Do you
have anything
you want to say
to anybody out
there? Hi to Tpm
Brian Chung
Taylor, Matt Boley, Judd, the other Tommy. Hey everyone. And who-
ever else, just stay in school and don't start smoking.
What have you been up to? Skateboarding, having fun, writing some lyrics. What's happening at Burnside lately? A whole lot of skateboarding. You
guys continuing to add things on and stuff? Yep. About every month or so, a new piece comes up. How long have you been skating for? About
Mike Kirchoff
715
seven years. What was your first hook up? It was a Sure Grip with
a license plate on the bottom that said "Stoked. "How did you get
into skating? I lived in a small town and no one really skated. I used
to BMX and then I sold my bike. I bought a set-up, and then once I
bought that set-up, I started to skate, and ever since then, I'm ded-
Icated. And you pretty much started skating here in Portland?
Yeah, pretty much started out here and then I moved to Southern
California for a while, then I moved back to Oregon because the
Northwest is where it's at. Who do you look up to right now? I
just look up to all my friends that I skate with and they taught me to
keep skating and going, learning. Do you think the scene here in
Portland is pretty happening? Yeah, Portland's the shit. North-
west is the best. What would you like to see happening in skate-
boarding? I think everybody should just be at the same level, not
old school, no new school, just everybody having fun together.
Just like the way it is up here. Yeah. Pretty much, but there's still
the few that vibe, but they ain't nothin' to sweat. What's in the
future? Hopefully a lot of skateboarding, travelling and going back
to school. How old are you? Twenty. Any last comments? Shouts
out to the Northwest, Seattle, P-Town, all the boys in the City.
