oung people are discrimi
nated against more than
anyone else in the world.
What they can see, do, drink
and hear is constantly restricted.
They have few rights and no
vote. Yet it is those eighteen and
over who will be called upon to
fight if the country goes to war.
Cantankerous adults despise
youth because they know it
holds more power and creativity
than their shriveled shells will
ever have again... "I'm never
going to grow upl I think adults
suck!" says Don Bolles, drum-
mer for The Germs, Vox Pop,
45 Grave and Celebrity Skin. "I
can be ninety years old and I will
never be an adult," he says. "In
fact, I'll probably be a drooling
Alzheimer's idiot by then, barely
able to do things a child can
do." Singer Darby Crash never
made it past twenty-two, but as
a skater, prankster and visionary
lyricist his charisma was undeni
able. The blue circle is unbroken
with the "Forming" single, What
We Do Is Secret, (GI) and two
songs from the movie Cruising
now captured on one CD enti
tled (MIA). The Germs learned
as they went, but what they
lacked in experience they made
up for in vigor. Bolles explains,
"You start innocently with a cou
ple of peas or chocolate sprin-
kles, then move up to cherry
tomatoes, cheesecake and what
ever happens to be around. It's
best when you get innocent
people. Sometimes it can get
real slapstick and they start
throwing food too, and some
times you get thrown out real
quick. Mister Crash used to
cover himself with peanut butter
on occasion, and supposedly
you can hear, "He's got peanut
butter' in the background of
'Sex Boy"... Chokebore began
in Hawail under the moniker
Dana Lynn, but that sounded
too much like a female country
vocalist, so they changed their
name. Now coming out of LA,

the underground
ramp star of yesteryear, "Jungle

says all those slob airs jacked his
back. "He has to sleep sitting
up," says Troy. "No, not sitting
up," intrudes Johnny, "but kind
of like an animal. Ask Christian
Hosal how his back is doing"...
The almighty Swervedriver
returns with another guitar-
edged surge across the fields of
bliss that reside on the edge of
oblivion. Epic effects, psyche
delic strains and powerful verbal
utterances sail forth from Mescal
Head, a worthy roll-in to the
hard-driving Raise. On the
sharp, suave ska tip, look no fur
ther than Hepcat. Hanging

him, found out he was a dork
