to go pro and
not even skate.

you stoked on
skating?
Old videos.
The Blind video.

been harassed
for skating?
Always. At Em-
barcadero there
were a bunch
of police
that
came
down for
a straight
week, this posse
of cycles swoop-
ing everybody up,
arresting little kids
and taking their
boards. I never got
caught, though.
Do you travel?
To Sacramento
or San Diego, just
wherever. Just
pitch in gas money

vice for the next
generation?
Yeah, just don't
get big-headed.

the next man, just
worry about you.

There are a lot of
places to skate;
Ben Tall's, Gallery,
401 and Ranch. I
skate mostly with
my friend Jet, but
I also hang with
all the DT guys like
Ben, Mose, Colin,
Jeppy, Tony and
Sebastian.
skating the most?
People who sit around
and whine all day and
don't even skate.
Are the cops cracking
down on the skaters in
Vancouver?
They've assigned ten
local cops to all the new
spots and they chase us
around and treat us like
we're hardened criminals.
If they catch you, they
force us to focus our
boards then they give you
a ticket and take the
two pieces as evidence.
But I always get away, only
dorks get caught.
What your first board?
It was a Zellar's Headless
Horseman model, I main-
ly just cruised
I live in Santa Rosa.

skateboarding?

ever, my friends,

look up to?
Hiked Mark Gonz-
ales and Natas, that's
pretty much it.

everyday, but I like
skating mini-ramps
or anything when I
get the chance.

food, burritos, pizza,
rap, punk and heavy
metal. I like NOFX.

yourself two years

man with a gun.
Yeah, I was skating
down the street and

he's all, "Oh, what's
up? Do you want to

thought I was going
to get shot, but I
think he was just
fucking with me.
Any final words?
What's up to my
friends John and
Justin, they're in jail.
And my friend, Sha-
And I started skat leena, that's it.

Do you have a girlfriend?
No.
Have you ever been engaged
with a girlfriend before?
Have I had a girlfriend before?
Yeah, I've had a girlfriend before.
How long have you been riding?
It's been six years this sum-
mer. I started in the summer
before seventh
grade. Now, it's the
summer before my
college career.
What do you think
is happening with skate-
boarding right now?
Skating is going to get
more technical, it's
going to get more.
clean, it's just going
to progress fast
A lot of kids are
skating now.

to be more of
a trend now

are skating. They don't think it's
stupid anymore. They realize that
it's a sport
What does it takes to be a pro
these days?
Nothing, it doesn't take any-
thing. I guess that you need to be
sponsored and
guess you need to
skate and a team
willing to invest in
you and that's it. I
mean, anybody can
turn pro now. When
I was a little kid, it
was such a gnarly
thing to turn pro,
that's why I never
thought about it
because it was too
big of a deal. They
were like celebrities
and now they're just
skaters just like
everybody else. It's
like everybody just
fits together now.
Do you have any-
thing that you want
to say to people?
I can tell them
about Jesus Christ
and what he's done
and just witness to
them, just tell them
about the gospel,
the good news.
Now, I can offer
them life. Before, I
would talk to them,
small talk, whatev
er, but now I can just
tell them what's real
ly going on. I can tell
them something
that I've learned
from the bible and
that is true, I could
share that with other
people and that's
the only thing worth-
while in this world
right now. I mean,
there's things that
you have to do, you
have to work, and
you have to make
money, but when it
all comes down
to it, you're either
going to go to heav
en or hell, and I
choose heaven and
I want other people
to go there too so
tell them about the
good news.
