self-righteous crusade to get
Thrasher banned from super-
markets across the country, this
judge, jury and executioner
took it upon himself to have the
mag pulled from any store chain
that would listen to his rants.
The end result was small pota
toes in terms of how many
issues got pulled, but it did
bring up the question, are we
putting out the toughest, no-
holds-barred skateboarding and
lifestyle mag for the kids, or are
we doing it to please their
whining parents?
Fortunately, less than the
time it takes to say "Fuck that
shit" elapsed before we
returned to our senses and
affirmed that it's all for the kids.
Glancing at the results of a
recent reader's survey, we
found our gut feeling was justi-
fied. We asked, "What Would
Be The Most Killer Article
Ever?" And the skaters said,
"Babes On Boards," then
"Skatecamp for Girls," "How to
*$0% Cindy Crawford," "Gator
For President" and "Jason Lee's
American Tragedy."
We wondered if kids were
sick of parents and certain self.
proclaimed authority figures
telling them what to do, so we
turned to question number
twelve, "Is It Time For A
Revolution? By no uncertaint
landslide, the resounding
answer was yes, with most say-
ing they would do anything to
see it through, even die
Getting down to the impor
tant stuff, we examined "What's
The Hottest Trick?" And Alan
Gelfand's gift to skateboarding,
"The Ollie," was barely edged
out by "Anything Switch-
stance, thus validating the
current street knowledge of
our constituents. Meanwhile,
"Thinking." "Switchstance
360 Varial Heelflip Big Spin,"
"Cardiel Nosebones," "The
Sprinkler" and "Who Cares?" all
received honorable mentions.
We didn't want to delve
through every single question in
one sitting of Gutter Talk, so we
decided to end it with a ques-
tion most dear to every skater's
heart, "Where Do You Like To
Skata? Once again the reply
came back loud and clear,
"Anywhere. Amen.
