SPEYER
[vom page 32)
Does it piss on the floor?
Occasionally. But it has to piss. I
guess.
What's up with Slayer?
Slayer is the best thing that ever
happened to me. They give me pure
enjoyment.
Do they pump you up?
They make me go crazy.
What's your favorite Slayer song?
"Angel of Death."
What's your ideal day, Wade?
I wake up to Wheaties. It's the
breakfast of champions. Says so on
the box. Then drink a pot of coffee.
skate for at least four hours some-
where around town, go motocross
riding, come back and skate some
more, then eat a nice fat meal.
Tell me about your dreams.
Well, the other night. I saw this
movie about all these rad chicks.
That night, I was dreaming about
these chicks taking their clothes off
and giving me head. Then I woke up
and my dog was licking my face.
Do you want to be a professional
motorcycle racer in the future?
That would be nice, but it's too
hard. But I do race occasionally.
How'd you get into motorcycles?
Dave C. Dunn, Jr.
How did he get into motorcycle?
One day he decided we needed a
motorcycle so me and him bought
one for $125, an '83 XL 250.
And you shared it?
Actually, we shared it around the
neighborhood then I ended up buy-
ing a motocross bike off Ray Dillon,
a CR 80. Then we went to this track
and started riding and I basically
killed myself trying to learn the
damned thing. And I started getting
better at it and ended up buying a
bigger bike, a 125. Then Dave sold
the XL. and I got half the money and
he bought a YZ 125. Just recently, I
bought a '93 KX 125.
What's your favorite thing about
riding motorcycles?
Taking people out, making them
crash. It's rad to jump and land it.
Have you ever ate shit?
Yeah, once I crashed over the bars
and landed on my back, my neck, my
head and my legs.
Who's the gnarliest right now?
Salman Agah
Has your dog ever bitten you?
Playing around, but any dog will
bite when it's a puppy
Have you ever been to a rave?
Hell no. Actually, I did on accident
before it was the hip-hop trendy thing
to do..
What was it like?
cial side of it. I'm talking what it
means to me as an individual.
Skateboarding is continually chang-
ing and that is just the way it is
You wrote an article in the TV'zine
called Utilism. How do you think
society perceives skateboarders?
Not in a very positive light. Skate
It's definitely one of the worst boarders are chipping up their curbs,
places I've ever been to
Freak show?
Yes. And I saw Greg Carroll at
one and he asked me, "What the hell
are you doing here?"
And what did you say?
I thought it was an all night party.

up their hand railings and marking up
anything we can get our wheels on.
To them, it's vandalism, but in my
words, it's utilism. The general pub-
lic sees us as vandals because we're
destroying these "cherished" inani-
Do you have a mini-ramp at your mate objects. Personally, I could
new house?
I have two ramps. One is at my
parent's house, a spine ramp, and I
have a halfpipe at my house in the
garage.
The dimensions are:
The ramp at my house is twenty-
four feet wide, two and a half feet
tall and it has an extension that is
twelve feet wide with steel coping.
Do you think having ramps made
you a better skater?
It's just more skateboarding.
Have you ever ollied the Gonz?
Yeah, a long time ago. I haven't
done it in awhile.
What would you change about
your skating in the past?
I'd skate goofy footed so I'd be
actually learning regular-footed

care less about a curb or a hand rail
or a bench. To me, this sea of asphalt
has been laid out before me. I didn't
put it there, people with money put it
there and skateboarding is my way
of reacting to my environment.
That's one of the things I liked
about the article when you said,
"People can't deal with seeing a
skateboarder so in tune with his
immediate surroundings."
That's the reality of skateboarding.
We are, to a certain extent, environ-
mental artists. That's what we do, we
use what's in front of us to do the
thing we love.
Being a top professional in the
'90s, you must focus your board
an awful lot?
Yeah, right. Here's the real story
about focusing. Focusing was
What do you think about all the invented by a pal of mine from New
new companies?
Definitely the best thing that's hap
pening to skateboarding.
You think so?
Yeah, because there's so many
companies, so many people trying to
buy boards, they're just making it so
much easier for everyone to sell
skateboards.
You're being sarcastic.
It works perfect. There should be
more companies and more pros.
We need more pros out there so the
contest could be about two or three
days long
Does it bum you out when you
hear people gossiping?
It trips me out. I think the only time
it gets stressful is when there's a
deadline and no matter what you
do, it doesn't seem to help out. But
Do you think he's the innovator then again, in the politics of skating.

at doing it.
What do you think of smoking and
drinking?
I used to, but I don't anymore.
What's your hairstyle all about?
What else do you want to say?
I dedicate this interview to my
grandparents, Fran and Junior
Speyer.
I decided to cut it because Cardiel VALLELY from page 33)
said that if I shaved my head, he'd
shave his and he didn't think I'd do it
so I did and he didn't.
What do the chicks think?
They love it. They love a bald man.
Are you pierced?
My ass is pierced. So is my dick.

abandoned now. But skateboarding
is not dying, it's just changing. It
continually progresses and evolves.
People get left behind and that's the
way it is. When I say that skate-
boarding is dead. I'm not talking

picked up on it and thought, "Hmmm,
put it in a video, get kids out there to
do it. Make 'em think it's the cool
thing to do." Of course, if you break
a board, you have to buy a new
board so it's a good sales scheme.
A good way to produce more sales.

out there snapping their boards into
six pieces. I can only cry.
What was the meaning behind.
your New Deal board with the
alien connected to the person with
plugs for feet and behind you
new slick bottom board with sort
of the same idea?
The alien connected to the human
body represented the unknown or
the real spiritual side and the reality
within that we haven't even yet
tapped. The body was elongated on
the board representing the stretching
of ideas and beliefs of reality, how we
are being pulled in different direc
tions in the confusion of it all.
The new one is different. The allen
is a separate being and he's seiz-
ing this person from behind in
the image of Christ.
The image of Christ isn't really
meant to be sacrilegious or any
thing like that. It's basically that I look
at every human being as his own
martyr, his own Christ. I don't know
what I was even thinking, but the way
I've lived my life and continue to live
my life is that I'm my own martyr. I'm
out there fighting the futile battle
and that's the Christ in me, that's my
own warped excuse for existence.
That's where the imagery of Christ
comes from. I don't feel I've pro-
gressed at all on dealing with things
outside myself, the unknown, spiri-
tually it's just a separate thing now.
I'm too strapped to the plugs and
even though the plugs are out of the
socket on the board. It's just that life
is confusion and that's just where I
am. I don't know what is going on.
AIR WAR (3)
cabling two machines together. The
company recently sponsored a huge
competition in Las Vegas to deter
mine a Falcon Top Gun.
The game itself is an incredibly
detailed simulation of the world's
most agile fighter for both air-to-air
and air-to-ground strikes, the
General Dynamics F-16 Fighting
Falcon. With a top speed of Mach 2
(twice the speed of sound), the plane
can outperform the human compo-
nent within, leading to the threat of
pilot blackout (blood drained from
head) or redout (blood forced into
head). Though this craft weighs less
than half of the F-14. it can carry an
even heavier payload (over 15,000
pounds of stores along with two
wingtip air-to-air missiles and a
M61A120mm cannon.) State-of-the-
art electronic systems round out the
package, making the Falcon a near-
ly untouchable force that places
incredible demands on the pilot that
tries to control the power.
The setting is a "minor nation in the
backwaters of the Third World" in a
Persian Gulf-esque scenario an
aggressive force is involved in a
border conflict. In a series of mis-
sions, you'll barrel in to take out
tanks, bridges, bases and high-
velocity railways with video guided
weaponry and traditional arma-
ment. Along the way, you'll
encounter SAM ground-based mis-
siles and MiGs with your name on
them. The high-tech avionics act as
the great equalizer as you work the
keyboard frantically (nearly every
key is required as is a template
showing what activates what). An
thorough manual is provided that
uses all of its nearly 200 pages just
trying to begin to explain this air-
plane. This is an excellent game
that just keeps getting better.
POST MORTEM
All three of the above games
should be on the disk of any gamer
with the right hardware. All three
together should end up costing about
the same as a single inferior.
Sega/Nintendo counterpart. If you
have or can get access to a real com-
puter, you've got to get these awe-
some aerial combat simulators.
