THE WORLD INDUSTRIES MINT
PROUDLY PRESENTS
THE NAPPING NEGRO
GERSHON
MOSLEY
Negroes have always shared a bright and colorful history with white people.
Beginning in the 1600's they were taken from their homes, shackled, piled into
ships, and then transported to America. Over the next three centuries they
were bought, sold, enslaved, tortured, raped and killed. Then, in 1954, they
were allowed to drink from the same water fountains and that pretty much
took the fun out of everything. Well, those happy go lucky days may be gone but
they certainly are not forgotten. Now, for the first time, the world industries
mint can bring back some of those great memories through the magic of this
marvelous commemorative oil painting entitled, "The Napping Negro." Yes,
"The Napping Negro" is so masterfully painted it can virtually transport you
back to a simpler time, when colored people knew their place. Go ahead, take a
closer look. Notice the attention to every detail, the idle farm tools, the partial-
ly eaten watermelon, that dreamy chicken leg and of course, those big ol' lips. It
almost makes you feel like giving that lazy, good for nothin' cotton-picker the
whippin' of his life, doesn't it? You'll also find that it's the perfect ice breaker
for non segregated parties and other "mixed" social functions. Your friends of
color will no doubt get many laughs seeing how their great grandparents whiled
away their lives and at the same time feel a
deep sense of appreciation that they are
even allowed in the same house as you.
And, for all you rich people, you will no
doubt agree that this will make a great com-
panion piece to that beautiful lawn jockey
proudly displayed in your front yard. Plus,
besides being a fine piece of art, it's a great
investment that will no doubt appreciate in
value as time passes by. So go ahead, order
"The Napping Negro " today, you'll be glad
you did.
